By complete accident, I came across this email my mom CC'ed me on in November 2008 (days before the election.) It was a response to a chain email accusing Obama of being a "Muslim terrorist." Man, she would have ensured these maga losers didn't know a moment of peace if she were still alive!

In college I (voluntarily 💀) read Atlas Shrugged, where the country's top capitalists disappear and go "on strike" to stick it to all their detractors. The novel presents this as a major blow to humanity, but Ayn Rand failed to consider how utopic that'd truly be 🏝

As lunchtime approached, we were all buzzing about who we were most excited to meet. Then...our teacher came into the room with a frown and some cupcakes. She confessed it was an April Fools "joke" that got out of hand. The cupcakes were her attempt to make us forget her great sin. We... cried.

In 5th grade (1999?) the UConn women's team was EVERYTHING. On April 1st, our teacher told us the basketball team was coming to our class for lunch. We flipped out and our excitement was an 11/10. We noticed our teacher's demeanor changed, but we didn't care, we were gonna meet the huskies!!!

Why do I spend time in the comment section of our local newspaper futilely explaining to magas that the Constitution applies equally to all people on US soil and not just natural born citizens. It's not even a legal gray area 😭

2025 marks the 20th year I've had a FB account, and 2005 me would have had a really hard time believing that 85% of my feed now is AI-generated interior design images...and that 85% of my interactions are fighting with (probably bot) accounts insisting that they are in fact AI slop. I must stop 😖

Chris's dad just moved in with us for hospice care. He can't be left alone at all, so won't be able to leave the house much for the foreseeable future. Time to revive some of those 2020 quarantine hobbies I left behind!! Any recommendations for new ones? 😅

All of this, and I didn't even touch on my grandma's years spent in Auschwitz being experimented on by the deranged Dr. Mengele. Another time 😅 Thanks for reading this far.

All I can do is use my voice and privilege to help others. And if/when push comes to shove, be someone's Schwartz. Their sacrifice and my grandparents survival has to mean something larger, right? Still learning how to best apply myself, how to make the biggest change. Being passive isn't enough.

The Hungarian men weren't Jewish, they had nothing to gain from risking their lives to save my family. But their actions have rippled through my history, and through yours to some extent, assuming you know me. I don't know their names or their fate. I can never repay their bravery. --
