getting rid of useful URIs in exchange for less functionality and HTTPS seems like a pretty shit trade

it's a very broadly distributed multinational, trying to get political traction here is like grasping at water unfortunately

yeah, i used it at my last job, thought i'd hate it but it works well with templating frameworks

i don't have that kind of influence at the new job, unfortunately

it's *infuriating*, we have "designers" here who only know how to mock shit up and *cannot* produce html/css, i keep getting these unachievable designs and any differences in the end result are seen as my failing

it's been a quarter century now and i still can't get CSS to fit in my head 😭

Really illuminating seeing who thinks Haha, You Clowns is "wholesome" and not a sniper shot from 200 yards into the eye of a certain type of upper middle class suburbs person.

i love* spending hours trying without success to get a web page to lay out correctly and then having it all snap into perfect place when i accidentally slap "display: flex" on a random container

I understand that there are a lot of people out there who think they have good intentions and love to take their ideological opponents in good faith because it makes them seem fair and reasonable and I truly cannot overstate how dangerous this is to trans people and how much they should stop

the democrats won't challenge actual power because it would reveal that they have none

helping maintain the illusion of a functioning government is the only thing keeping their voices heard right now

I have said before and will say again that it is such a loss that we no longer get covers of this caliber for fantasy books.

This art is by Jean-Léon Huens. These covers are for the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. They lit my imagination on fire as a kid.

i don't think there's enough of them, i only ever remember there being one or two per class, whereas i've talked to a heap who support the ban lately

i think it's more the parents who watched too much tv as kids being hypocritical in a "my addiction wasn't as bad as yours" way

Now up to 44 reviews! Newest one's a bit long so just clipped the end of it. Glad to see they understood what we were going for, and you can leave whatever number you like if you're still putting it as Recommended.

The one-electron universe is the hypothesis that all electrons and positrons are actually manifestations of a single entity moving backwards and forwards in time. It was proposed by theoretical physicist John Wheeler in a telephone call to Richard Feynman in the spring of 1940.

It’s so wild how the wealthy are destroying the Amazon that potentially has the cure for all the cancers in favor of an Amazon that’s creating new types of cancers

I'm sorry but you don't get to hold "moderate" views on ideologies or technologies that are overwhelmingly being used for evil right now, that doesn't make you intellectually superior, it just flags you as a sympathiser

The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.

I watched Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch: a movie about being a writer, internalized homophobia, and the disconnected relationship your body has with your mind. I think it is one of his best. A deeply unsettling film.
