Policy implications exist for Indonesiaโs long-term strategic behaviour, the dilemma Indonesiaโs strategic culture presents for external powers & how Aust should best strategically engage with SEA in a manner that does not undermine Indonesiaโs leadership or territorial integrity

The article concludes with recommendations to the latter such that they may preserve their interests and advance cooperation with Indonesia while avoiding the elements of โnavigationโ issues that could otherwise shipwreck those relationships.

Iโm late to the party, but this article highlights a really important need. Maritime issues arenโt the niche they used to be. Theyโre informing mainstream conversations, and literacy matters. (We could add freedom of navigation to the articleโs themes, given recent ๐ฆ๐บ reactions to PLA vessels.)
