Yes, the business model, as for social media, is to take advantage of people's addictions, naivety and inexperience and to monetise those as saleable assets to advertisers and to corporates with more nefarious aims, such as manipulating product purchase. Citizens need protecting from this onslaught.

Rivals benefit from Hargreaves client exits after fee shake-up Move prompts wealthier clients to switch providers from UK’s largest investment site

Hargreaves Lansdown got taken over by private equity. Predictably, the fees are shooting up. Time to quit!

The Pentagon is currently run by someone with a mental age of 10, so that may be some sort of explanation?

I never place too much credence on what Harriet comes out with. She does seem to have a front page slot reserved on the Gruaniad for her slightest observations though.

There's no 'Secretary of State' in the UK.

Perhaps it's also worth reflecting on the fact that the two worst domestic policy decisions of this government, the winter fuel payment and the disability payments were both heavily pushed by the female Chancellor.

I was trying to imagine anyone knowingly buying a history book written by an LLM. I'd sooner hurl myself into raw sewage.

Might be better if we just ditch Microsoft.

Replacing proper historians with the stream of slop and lies emanating from LLMs sounds like just what we need. But who would buy a history book written by an LLM?

Agree. There's no real excuse for how the Starmer government have behaved around this, any more than there was for the Johnson government.

OK, it's not a 'broken back' as widely reported, but most people would prefer not to be hit on the back with a sledgehammer sufficient to fracture a vertebrae and lead to a recovery path of '3-6 months'. Doesn't quite go with the peaceful protester image.

Lol, the photo is just so Dave Cameron in his first incarnation. That was before Austerity Dave and Brexit Dave of course.

Yes, but I imagine you'd agree he was far more important in that government than any mere backbencher.

Worth mentioning that Bangor is already cut to the bone. Closing it completely isn't the big step it might appear, sadly.

London's very good for students with indulgent and rich families. For everyone else, it's pretty dismal.

Hating on the universities and academics, a routine part of the far right's propaganda. Not surprisingly, it was also a key part of Hitler's surge to power in the early 30s.

Cummings was chief adviser to the PM without even being a member of the PMs party. It doesn't seem to matter these days, even less so given that the two 'main' parties are pretty much identical anyway.

Several key signs - has he opened an "Al4Leader" website? And is he out with a husky team? Both are signs of greatness, along with promising a "kinder, gentler fascism", etc.

Scuttlebut is they're planning an underground nuclear test in the area.

Lots of people saying this is part of prep for an underground nuclear test. No idea of this is true, but given how this administration are behaving, it's plausible.

They can also celebrate the MoD sending regular targeting data to the IDF from the Cyprus overflights, which continued regardless of the extreme crimes against humanity committed there. To the military contractors and their military allies, Gaza is a useful testbed for weapons systems.

I guess we'll see who is telling the truth in due course. Starmer is clearly not standing down for the time being, so anyway it's a meaningless story in that he would have to resign before a leadership election could take place. But I bet Streeting is still plotting.

Not to mention the contract the MoD clearly had to supply the IDF with aerial targeting recon on the regular overflights from Cyprus.
