Happy St Katherine's Day to all scholars, librarians, and Katherines. May you win an argument against an annoying man today, in the true spirit of Katherine herself.

Archivist doing archive things mostly. Easily distracted London based Scot. Current Chair of Archives and Records Association, but all views my own. She/her.

25.11.2025 07:08 β π 424 π 159 π¬ 8 π 16I've been pro-hibernating for a long time (I like the idea of waking up in Spring having used up my reserves) but this year especially it's needed.
22.11.2025 19:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Edge of a glass, with a (gas) fire and houseplants in the background.
Hibernating and drinking the fizz we were saving for a big thing that weβve done this week. Feels a bit over-shadowed, but also if I have something in memoriam it has to be single malt - maybe later? #ConfinedCocktails
22.11.2025 19:00 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Have a great trip!
22.11.2025 17:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0@gen3cats.bsky.social I know itβs not your college but feel like you might know someone who knows. Also can you map Cambridge college cats?
21.11.2025 20:13 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have a lot of good intentions about wrapping but no actual will to do it.
21.11.2025 19:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yesβ¦
21.11.2025 19:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Closing soon, our representation statistics survey. If you are ND and work in libraries archives and information then please fill this in, thankyou.
21.11.2025 15:55 β π 2 π 8 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you, and yes, it was.
20.11.2025 16:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My parents standing by their wedding car. My dad is on the right, wearing a kilt, he has glasses and dark hair. My mum is on the left in a very 60s, high neck, long sleeved wedding dress.
My dad died on Monday, so here is a photograph. Even when he didn't recognise me consistently, he always knew Mum so it seems like the best choice.
20.11.2025 15:57 β π 24 π 0 π¬ 16 π 0The slippers are a popular children's book (which came out well after my own childhood!)
20.11.2025 14:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I like cold clear days, sadly London winter tends towards grey and damp (not today though!)
20.11.2025 08:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs a balmy 5C in Inverness when we get there tomorrowβ¦ Today has been lovely though.
16.11.2025 19:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Amsterdam houses, cabals, blue skies
The worst has yet to happen, so itβs been a nice day.
16.11.2025 18:21 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0At some point, for the love of God, will someone ANYONE at long last take the council funding crisis seriously?!?
Because THIS is what will break down a society, not some poor soul escaping incredible dangers, arriving on our shores.
Two cocktail glasses on a table, one with a classic margarita that looks yellowish, the other with a very orange cocktail with half a passion fruit in it.
#ConfinedCocktails in the hotel bar in Amsterdam. Waiting for the bad news phone call I know is coming.
15.11.2025 17:32 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 11 π 1This is great, but Pitlochry is nearly two hours drive south of Inverness - which has one theatre. Would love to see this spread further north and cover the full area of the Highlands (worth noting that the Highlands is an area approximately the size of Belgium)
14.11.2025 14:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It will still not be as disappointing as when my dad got an aged, specially saved, bottle of red out on my parents golden wedding and it was basically vinegar. (I now distrust almost all the wine in their house)
At least if itβs not quite as good as you remember it should be decent!
Buy the wine. Because a) the person is more than worth it and b) nice things are cheering (which is why I bought proper champagne for a toast to life, not my usual cheaper options). Maybe for Christmas to help get through it?
13.11.2025 21:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0It was great to be at the Houses of Parliament yesterday for the APPG Archives and History Lifetime Achievement Awards. 12.11.2025 15:42 β π 12 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0We had a weekend with friends a couple of weeks ago. If we aren't increasingly peri, it's parents/work/partners. Mutual support and wine was the outcome...

08.11.2025 19:09 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Dear GOD if you want to save money in the asylum system
1. LET ASYLUM SEEKERS WORK
2. FAST TRACK STATUS FOR EVERYONE FROM CLEARLY UNDAFE COUNTRIES like Sudan, Syria, etc
3. Run an asylum accommodation system that is NOT FOR PROFIT #r4today
I hope so, otherwise there are multiples of this person!
06.11.2025 15:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Someone came up to my colleague at a large history event in London this week and complained how young women seemed to be doing all the jobs these days. (she happily confirmed that they are, and started to talk to someone else)
