Happy St Katherine's Day to all scholars, librarians, and Katherines. May you win an argument against an annoying man today, in the true spirit of Katherine herself.

I've been pro-hibernating for a long time (I like the idea of waking up in Spring having used up my reserves) but this year especially it's needed.

Hibernating and drinking the fizz we were saving for a big thing that we’ve done this week. Feels a bit over-shadowed, but also if I have something in memoriam it has to be single malt - maybe later? #ConfinedCocktails

@gen3cats.bsky.social I know it’s not your college but feel like you might know someone who knows. Also can you map Cambridge college cats?

I have a lot of good intentions about wrapping but no actual will to do it.

My dad died on Monday, so here is a photograph. Even when he didn't recognise me consistently, he always knew Mum so it seems like the best choice.

At some point, for the love of God, will someone ANYONE at long last take the council funding crisis seriously?!?

Because THIS is what will break down a society, not some poor soul escaping incredible dangers, arriving on our shores.

Two cocktail glasses on a table, one with a classic margarita that looks yellowish, the other with a very orange cocktail with half a passion fruit in it.

This is great, but Pitlochry is nearly two hours drive south of Inverness - which has one theatre. Would love to see this spread further north and cover the full area of the Highlands (worth noting that the Highlands is an area approximately the size of Belgium)

It will still not be as disappointing as when my dad got an aged, specially saved, bottle of red out on my parents golden wedding and it was basically vinegar. (I now distrust almost all the wine in their house)
At least if it’s not quite as good as you remember it should be decent!

Buy the wine. Because a) the person is more than worth it and b) nice things are cheering (which is why I bought proper champagne for a toast to life, not my usual cheaper options). Maybe for Christmas to help get through it?

We had a weekend with friends a couple of weeks ago. If we aren't increasingly peri, it's parents/work/partners. Mutual support and wine was the outcome...

Dear GOD if you want to save money in the asylum system

1. LET ASYLUM SEEKERS WORK

2. FAST TRACK STATUS FOR EVERYONE FROM CLEARLY UNDAFE COUNTRIES like Sudan, Syria, etc

3. Run an asylum accommodation system that is NOT FOR PROFIT #r4today

Someone came up to my colleague at a large history event in London this week and complained how young women seemed to be doing all the jobs these days. (she happily confirmed that they are, and started to talk to someone else)
