*OK, most of the American public isn’t watching terrestrial Turkish television but you get what I mean.

It runs well! I'll note that I didn't see extensive options for things like lighting and global illumination. There were only options for dynamic and screen-space reflections. You'd obviously have a better sense of what is going on under the hood, but I think the result looks great.

This looks so good! Crazy smooth for GBA—puts Virtua Racing with the SVP chip to shame. Less polys being pushed but I think that’s the right move considering how much nicer this would feel to actually play.

Things I learned:

• I don’t think Sega Touring Car is any better in arcade
• 500 GP is very cool looking but unplayable—just play MotoGP on PS2
•Dirt Dash is actually the best arcade racing game Namco never ported home and better than most Ridge Racers, honestly
• Thrill Drive is SO entertaining

Hey I was in Japan last week and got to play so much good shit.

Gigo 3 let me play a ton of racing games for the first time, including Dirt Dash and Thrill Drive. Some went better than others but I could have spent four times as long here. Cameo by @kylempatrick.bsky.social on Scud Race there.

These younger kids that lived across the street from me just gave me their copy for free because they didn’t like it. They complained it was “like driving Hot Wheels cars.” Their loss.

Having played an OR2 SP cab last week in Japan for the first time in a long time, I’ve decided that that game is good on console but truly great in an arcade, like those physics kind of need a wheel and shifter to really thrive.
