This is a great read, even for someone like me who doesn’t care a whit about golf.

I was diagnosed with measles at 2, but I was misdiagnosed and actually got it when 15. If you are older its not a bad idea to get a titer test to make sure you are immune even if you think you had the disease when young.

Keep making jokes. Keep making art. Keep making games. Keep up self care. Distract yourself if you need to.

Keep reminding humans what humanity is.

This is part of how you smash fascism.

I wrote a book on influencers, so I have opinions, and one of them is that the juggernaut was not run through explicitly political influencers.

A “Joe Rogan of the left” would not be a political creator. Most of the pods Trump did weren’t pol creators. MAHA was also hybrid - started in wellness.

I wrote the definitive book on “continuity of government” and let me tell you: The idea of the US commander-in-chief flying on a plane from a foreign govt is a literal security nightmare. There’s a reason the US is the only country in the world that provides its leader his own helicopters overseas.

Our democracy’s survival may well depend on government dudes with guns questioning illegal orders. Military, police, Homeland Security, Marshals, all of them. Honor the oath, not the authoritarians.

Rep Eric Swalwell walked out in *shock*—and who could blame him?

Every single GOP member on the House Judiciary Committee just voted to let Trump “deport” American citizens.

This is illegal, authoritarian, and unforgivable 🤬

Time to call, write, & protest before the full House votes.

goose-stepping Stormtroopers. Suddenly, the whole. thing looks close and familiar Alongside the viciousness of much of German politics in the Weimar years was an incongruous innocence: few people could imagine the worst possibilities. A civilized nation could not possibly vote for Hitler, some had thought. When he became chancellor nonetheless, millions expected his time in office to be short and ineffectual. Germany was a notoriously law-abiding as well as cultured land. How could a German government systematically brutalize its own people? German Jews were highly assimilated and patriotic. Many refused to leave their homeland, even as things got worse and worse.
Tam German and am waiting for the Germans to come back; they have gone to ground somewhere," Victor Klemperer wrote in his diary-he was the son of a rabbi and a veteran of the First World War who chose to stay, and miraculously survived.
Few Germans in 1933 could imagine Treblinka or Auschwitz, the mass shootings of Babi Yar or the death marches of the last months of the Second World War. It is hard to blame them for not foreseeing the unthinkable. Yet their innocence failed them, and they were catastroph-ially wrong about their future. We who come later have one advantage over them: we have their example before us.

This passage from @benjamincarterhett.bsky.social's book on Hitler's rise to power has long haunted me for the way it describes how so many ordinary Germans had their minds & souls gradually rewired by the changing political climate of the 1930s. Watching something similar happen here is terrifying.

Three U.S. citizens, ages 2, 4 and 7, swiftly deported from Louisiana The cases have renewed concerns that the Trump administration’s expedited deportations are violating the rights of both citizens and noncitizens.

There’s a special place for the architects and agents of this. May they be tried, convicted, and rot there.

Embarrassed to say I just finished The Old Man (we only started recently). It’s great. But what a disappointment not to get a third season. Feels like one of those where a different streamer should pick it up and finish it off. (See also: Perry Mason.)
