medical.brown.edu/news/2024-09... Have to brag on Janet Joseph, a Gilliam Fellow at Brown I had the privilege of working with who studies how biological and chemical stressors affect placental inflammation and neuroinflammation, shaping infant brain development. #Neurobiology #PlacentaResearch

Currently looking at flow data now and wow there’s no composite or factor that even goes well with our dataset

To your point I have also had to complicate my understanding of inflammation from my own projects past and present

01.12.2023 16:53 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I agree; the deeper I get into immune work the less I find composites helpful for interpretation. I’d rather see individual cytokines corrected for multiple comparison & contextualized than a composite (personally!!). Granted the author team on the paper do great work - not an indictment on anyone

Would love your thoughts - don’t have time to dig in on this myself right now but i have the same feeling about many inflammatory composites
