This weekend we’ve had a female politician being asked how they’ve coped with their job & a female rugby player being asked how they’ve managed their sport whilst parenting. can’t wait to hear men being asked about their feelings at work and how it’s impacted their children. #BBCSport and #BBCNews

It now looks like Mandelson was appointed because of his connections to disgusting people. How is that acceptable?
It’s sad that standing up for women seems to take 2nd place to political strategy.
Telling us there’s more to come & to brace ourselves for it cos he’s sorry… 😡 Peter we don’t care.

Now reading your post again, I wonder if my reply is what you meant. I was just thinking that if you use a reflexive approach you can reference that element and it’s harder to do that with some qual approaches.

If when you transcribe you add tone and other observations about delivery in brackets, this becomes part of the analysis at the coding stage. I can’t remember where I read this but Braun & Clarke were always my go to, so likely to be from one of their papers or books.

It can’t be down to our young people to pay more, their fees and the ridiculous rents being charged for damp and tiny en-suite window-free mould rooms is already extortionate.
My daughter pays £125 per week no en-suite and that’s cheap compared to others.

The state of our university system is 😱. People are losing their jobs and courses are being cut at a heartbreaking rate. We need artists and creative work and some career areas depend on degrees. What’s going on?

Future Proofing Study: a cluster randomised
controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness of a
universal school-based cognitive–behavioural
programme for adolescent depression

This is a *key* new paper in the world of school mental health interventions

A very large trial (N=6388) testing a universal CBT-based app for adolescent depression (13-14y)

No effects found (on depression, anxiety, distress or insomnia)

I think what a lot of these unsuccessful interventions have in common is that they are about changing kids within schools, rather than changing the school itself. The school becoming a channel for reaching lots of kids, rather than the school environment itself being a target for intervention.

I remember reading a summary of all the times children were left alone in real life situations over the years and it never led to the horror that fiction predicted.

Interesting read on what can change relatively easily if we want an education system that works for everyone. the-difference.com/wp-content/u...

Sorry to hear this. I’ve mentioned the book Wintering by Katherine May left right and centre since reading it. If you are a reader it’s an interesting reflection on needing to lean into the bad bits and slow right down-seeing things as part of a seasonal cycle.

#edpsychs As part of our research on the DEdPsy course at UEL, colleagues and I are seeking participants for our research into EPs’ values and their impact on use of assessment tools. EPs working in the UK are eligible to take part and we would be so grateful! forms.office.com/e/kbDBmm9nWc

It is always so positive to hear the success YP can have when their needs are met.
My other half said we need to stop calling that approach ‘alternative’. Such a good point.
We continue to stigmatise students who have been let down by the ‘main’ system.

My thesis looking into self regulated learning in secondary schools.

Having a focus on processes rather than content in learning situations helps a wider range of learners develop a sense of competence. 😊
