The coldfoil phantasmal footsteps I opened in the second draft of the 2023 UK nationals. My draft was a disaster until I opened the card in pack 3. It will be a memory of the event I will cherish forever #fabtcg #fabcw

I think I played a handful of Guardian games in my FAB career, so I really couldn't tell, but I hope a set dedicated to the class would move the needle. Obviously, you can't make it OP, but it should help make the class relevant.

Neither very rare nor all that special, but being in the game for 4 years and having it only recently obtained through a trade makes it very special for me. I am in love with the art on the card. So iconic. #fabtcg #fabcw

Maybe, maybe not. I think people overestimate the impact that the top 5% not attending anymore will have on PQ's firing. Let's give it the next season to see what happens.

I think for two reasons: later in the season will be easier with good players already qualified, which will incentivise not yet qualified players to show up, and because the number of overall players already qualified will be a handful. We will need to see how it shakes out but I think it will be ok

We can't agree on everything :) I am hoping they will discuss it in an upcoming dev talk or write an article about it. They clearly hit a nerve with some of the playerbase, and addressing that would be beneficial. So far, they have been great about explaining decisions.

I want to believe that LSS ran the numbers on what impact this would have and not just "vibed" the decision. Hence, I believe they made the best decision they could - if not perfect. They have more data than we do to make this decision. I say let's try it and see if it is a good or bad change.

Because people conceded outside the top 8 to help friends/team members, the "manipulation" of the tournament starts way earlier than just in the final or top 4.

This behaviour is well-documented and has been openly talked about in popular podcasts.

A region with that amount of events will have the playerbase to sustain that many events even if the winners can't attend anymore. I trust LSS ran the numbers on what this change would do to attendance.

Yes, maybe it doesn't work for RtN, but it hasn't been announced yet for RtN, only PQ. However, they will need to make a change with ELO going away and that not being a way to qualify anymore. Perhaps top 8 qualify or something like that.

95% of these people will still be able to attend. say you have 4 PQ in reasonable distance. Every weekend it will be one person which will be qualified and can't join the others anymore. So most people will still be able to do what you describe. It honestly won't impact many people.

This will open up the opportunity to qualify for a more diverse set of players, and I like that. Teams already have a considerable advantage, and this lessens that a little. I say let's see what happens and adjust again if it doesn't work out. I am a fan of trying something before rolling it back.

That damages competitive integrity. And if FAB wants to be the best competitive TCG out there, it’s reasonable for LSS to discourage this kind of behaviour.

This will only affect a small number of players and won’t significantly impact Tier 2 attendance. 3/4

Take it with a grain of salt — I don’t play many Pro Quests. But the change makes sense to me.

Many players who already qualified (in a Pro Quest or Road to Nationals) are very open about conceding to help a friend or teammate top 8, make finals, or win. 2/4

LSS announcing that you can’t play in another Pro Quest after winning one seems fine to me. Even though most of the discussion I’ve seen today is negative. 🧵 1/4
