You can’t control how others interpret you

You can act authentically, being true to yourself

And you can act with humility, being open to being wrong, and learning, and growing

But others will have to own how they read you and what they choose to do with that

I guess one of the nice things about having a dog who is shedding a lot right now is that I keep a little piece of her with me wherever I go

Sometimes, instead of lol-ing, I forcefully exhale through my nostrils. And sometimes, there is a snot bubble that forms and pops very quickly when I do this. Which will ultimately lead to me actually laughing out loud, so we come around full circle

Don’t intellectualize so much you forget to act

You don’t have to play love safe

Nobody is a mind reader. We can’t expect others to be. And we can’t assume we can do it.

Don’t be so afraid of others rejecting you that you end up rejecting yourself

Some people take a good hard look at themselves in the mirror and choose to grow. And then there are others who take a bad easy glance and you can really tell who is who.

You never know when the last time you’ll do something is. The last hug. The last “I love you”. The last shared look. The last laugh together.

Make as many as you can as often as you can.

Growing up where your actions created unsafe emotional reactions in those around you means you probably overthink how others are going to respond to what you do.

We’re all probably way harder on ourselves than most other people are

And if somehow someone else is being harder on you, then we don’t need you beating you up too

I understand that a horse’s height is measured in hands, but do we know what sized hands they are?

We all started somewhere. We don’t all choose what we started with, but we do choose what we do with it all. We do choose where we want to go. And we do choose when we start.

We really don’t all have it all figured out. The name of the game is figuring it out together. And yet, it’s also sad that there are people committed to not being curious and not seeking to understand. There are people who will not want to figure it out with you. And ultimately that’s their choice.

We need to stop trading our humanity for convenience. Or control. Or capital gains.

Don’t let the fear of not getting it perfect stop you from taking a step towards what is good and right.

We love because we have love to give.

Not to get something from someone else. Not to make our own lives better.

Love is never about what we get from loving. Love is about loving.

We all have the power to create. We're all little creators. Of love. Of peace. Of hope. Of joy.

Or hate and all the things that take away life.

We have to create more of what we need in the world.

If I’m joking about it, I’m good. If I’m suddenly quiet about it, it’s probably a problem.

Taking advantage of others because others may take advantage of you and preemptively striking someone else because they may attack you give off the same energy and it is not a good look

We’re all a little wounded. And we’re all a little scared we may not get what we want or need.

But there is enough to go around. And there is love in the healing and in the growing.

Doing the right things can cost popularity and profit.

But it’s worth it.

Love will always hope for the best for you and for us.

And so, dear ones, I love you.

There are no days when my heart doesn’t break for all the ways we failed and all the love that won’t be given and all the life that won’t be shared.

There are no days when my heart doesn’t skip a beat for all the ways we’ve grown and all the love we have to give and all the life we have to live.

Things are allowed to be good and not profitable at the same time. Return on investment is a terrible mark of a thing’s value.

you are accountable for the choices you make. and you are responsible for how you respond when you are held to account for the choices you've made.

you can defend and justify.

you can freeze and distance.

or you can learn, grow, and repair.

the letter of the law ought to evolve to maintain the spirit of the law within all the changes and growth and progression that has happened societally.

it's not simply okay for people to do things just because the law allows them to do it or not.
