No, not really. That was the work of hundreds of years, not 2 or 3 decades.
I'm not saying it's a great thing, but China pours as much cement every two years as the US did in the 20th century, a remarkable stat that points to staggeringly rapid development.

Of course China is guilty of filling the world with products within this paradigm.
But I return to the central point. A planned economy has the ability to be controlled, and ours doesn't resulting in many 'losers' and environmental destruction without end.

Nothing compares to what China has achieved. Furthermore, only central planning will be able to restrain itself from consumer driven eco suicide. (Of course, without a crystal ball we'll not know if China is capable of that restraint)

FYI part of the reason I have kind of a soft spot for a Chinaesque state is that only central planning seems to have the ability to reign in the type of capitalism that currently is assuring the end of civilisation through the destruction of our life systems.

China, which has UTTERLY transformed conditions for its citizens in a few decades, is a clear example of how efficiently an economy can be organised for the widest benefit without the distraction of a democratic pantomime

1, Israel abide by the law and UN resolutions.
Followed bY reparations to at least try and compensate for decades of brutal repression.
2, at that point Palestinians be expected to abide by the norms that we expect of states.
