Every time I hear about a liberal pro-natalist, I look to see if they've written or spoken against coercive fertility limitation in the criminal legal system, and unsurprisingly none of them have!

08.07.2025 00:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0since I see ppl posting pictures from a pseudoscience convention this morn, I will re-up this. Blanchard's theory of autogynephilia (read: his taxonomy & etiology) have been disproved by multiple research studies (see my reviews here):

Something I always notice about 'liberal' pro-natalists is that they want more births, but are averse to opposing coercive fertility limitations (eg in the criminal legal system).
Liberal or conservative, it's entirely about *who* is allowed to, or forced to, have and raise their own children.
Talking about birth rate panic and referencing pro-natalist agendas without talking about eugenics and *who* these people think should be having kids is an interesting editorial decision.
07.07.2025 15:00 β π 208 π 60 π¬ 3 π 5i regret to inform you that you will simply never be able to craft a coherent vision of queer liberation without feminism, no matter how much you want to leave women out of your visions of a sexually free world
07.07.2025 18:25 β π 123 π 27 π¬ 1 π 0sexual violence is THE key operative mechanism of patriarchal enforcement & regulation of bodies, "penetrability," and sexuality/the heterosexual regime. queer oppression is more than thwarted desire. sexual freedom must begin with body autonomy & freedom from coercion

07.07.2025 23:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Guardian article aside, feminist criticism of pornography isn't new or right wing. The motivation is to contain violence against women. Conservative sexual politics are about women being sexually subjugated by men.
07.07.2025 23:36 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Feminismβs criticism of menβs violence against women & the sexualisation of menβs violence exists wholly apart from religious right criticism of porn, not least because elements of the right believe in dismantling protections against MVAWG

A modest proposal:
Every major news organization should have a full-time trans writer on staff who gets to write about trans issues.
they do this and then they publish "research" about how these tribes are so sexually enlightened they see csa as harmless and normal, if only those feminist prudes hadn't ruined everyone's fun with bourgeois moralism we could be so enlightened too etc, then that research becomes standard citation

07.07.2025 18:22 β π 32 π 5 π¬ 1 π 0(I'm no expert, I'm sure it's complicated, but I also know that a lot of parents hate their kids and judges do whatever they want, so judicial approval and parental consent don't really offer protection.
Also, marriage alone doesn't necessarily emancipate a minor in all states...)
In Tennessee, a minor can marry at 17 with parental consent, but the other party cannot be more than 4 years older. Similar in OH but judicial consent is required.
New Mexico allows pregnant children under 16 to marry a partner w/o age restrictions, even though the age of consent is 16...
From what I see of Texas in the news, it looks like a fascist hellhole, but they are ahead of states like California, Illinois, Hawaii, & New Mexico.
In Hawaii parents can marry off a 15 year old to an adult, but some red states at least have a MMA of 17 and protections like minimum age gaps.
Child marriage is legal in 35 US states, but it's interesting how the laws don't map neatly onto a red state/blue state divide.
California has no minimum marriage age, where Texas only allows 16 & 17 year olds to marry if they are emancipated, and there's bipartisan support to close that loophole.

How are you going to dismantle patriarchy without being pro-abortion, anti-rape, and pro-LGBTQIA+, ESPECIALLY pro-trans rights in this environment?
Screenshot from Bust Magazine article titled 'Our Hearts Are With All Who Defend Abortion Access in MN and Beyond,' dated June 20, 2025. The introduction reflects on a heavy week and expresses solidarity with the community supporting abortion access.
On our latest Bust Magazine blog, weβre raging and grieving in this heavy week of news. An elected official who stood for reproductive freedom was shot and killed. Abortion providers were named on a hit list.
