This looks very cool. Also, I love that your cat is named Rollie Fingers. Hopefully someday he'll manage to grow his namesake's mustache! π

12.05.2025 20:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ok. I just read about the solfΓ¨ge, which to be honest, I'd never heard of. When I looked up the original lyrics in my initial "what am I missing here" confusion, I just found Rogers' "so." I admit I'm wrong, but it still is not my favorite clue.
12.04.2025 18:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A screenshot of the lyrics to Do Re Me, by Ricbard Rogers. DO - a deer, a female deer RE - a drop of golden sun MI - a name, I call myself FA - a long long way to run SO - a needle pulling thread LA - a note to follow SO TI - a drink with jam and bread
Just dropping this here. No reason a all.

12.04.2025 17:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I believe it! I was at the University of Washington when some of their crow research came out. I knew they were intelligent, but had no idea just how clever they were until then!
22.03.2025 00:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sometimes I wonder if they have more fun messing with him than he would stalking the birds. It's a pretty funny setup to watch! (And I promise, no one, feline or avian, is at risk of anything more than a severe case of feline embarrassment!)
22.03.2025 00:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My mom's cat goes on walks & has a little area where he is allowed "alone" on his leash. He seems to have zero instinct for hunting & is a senior cat citizen by now, but is still superivised. The birds learned quickly just how far he can reach on his tether & tease him mercilessly.

16.03.2025 15:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0βSince Republicans are too spineless to face their own constituents, Democrats will do it for them. Starting this weekend, we're heading into red districts in every state to hold in-person town halls and listen to voters who are mad as hell at what Trump, Musk, and the GOP are doing to this countryβ
14.03.2025 18:54 β π 313 π 68 π¬ 10 π 16Very good advice. And a hobby that keeps your hands busy keeps you from doom scrolling. I need to get back into serious knitting, I think.
06.03.2025 21:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Exactly! It's only been about 6 weeks & I'm so stressed, I'm barely keeping it together some days. This is going to be a long 4 years (plus a lifetime of the effects of everything he does).

19.02.2025 14:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0When the 1937 census didn't reflect the increasing population figures Stalin had been promising, he had the census workers sent to the gulag & released 'edited' figures. History keeps repeating with slight variations on the tune.
19.02.2025 02:13 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I saw the "person" headline & clicked because I thought it was a new case with (presumably) an unidentified victim. Once I started to read, it was very obvious what had happened to the headline. It's another form of violence.
18.02.2025 17:50 β π 17 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh, certainly. But finding a way to charge & hold them accountable is a different matter.
18.02.2025 14:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Metro PD (DC local police) can't force entry. They have no more right to enter a federal building than anyone else unless assigned there. That would be like a Nevada cop trying to pull you over in California. Except that there is a greater possibility it may end in gunfire.
18.02.2025 14:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In Washington, there are dozens of police departments. Only a very few of them are local & answer to the mayor. The vast majority are federal & answer to agency leadership & eventually the White House. The WH & all agency buildings are federal property.

17.02.2025 04:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This happens to me fairly regularly now. The meds that I've been on for years (sometimes decades) are suddenly not medically necessary, despite the fact that they obviously are. I've described it elsewhere, but I estimate I spend a min of 40+ hrs/yr fighting these battles. It is a war of attrition.

13.02.2025 23:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0WASHINGTON, D.C. - The coordinating committee of Defend Public Health, an all-volunteer network of physicians and other healthcare workers, scientists and public health advocates, issued the following statement in response to today's U.S. Senate vote to confirm Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services: "The Senate today confirmed Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the most unqualified person ever chosen to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, but the fight to preserve and expand compassionate, science-based health policy does not end with his confirmation: This fight has only begun. We hope Mr. Kennedy will reconsider his embrace of disinformation and conspiracy theories, but if he follows through on the ideas he's embraced in recent years, many will suffer and die, and the senators who voted to confirm him will have blood on their hands.
"The HHS secretary represents just one piece of a very large federal health and research apparatus. The Trump administration has been attacking science, hiding data and destroying compassionate, life-enhancing public health policies on many fronts, and we will continue to oppose these potentially deadly actions every way we can.
The Coordinating Committee of Defend Public Health has released the following statement about the confirmation of RFK Jr. as HHS Secretary.
