Nope. Never will. We are legit #neurodivergent. Everything psychology thinks it knows about how our minds work, what motivates us? All based on the wrong model.

Delayed gratification is not our friend. In fact it rubs us raw.

I need to figure out what brings me joy…

Yes!! One strategy I’m confident that most #neurodivergent folx NEED to begin implementing for our own mental health is what i call “scheduled unscheduled time”

Time specifically set aside without a pre-determined focus goal. Time to intentionally let our minds and attention *wander freely*

A friend posted this with the observation: Sometimes the best we can do is to reflect the beauty of the universe to others when they can’t see it for themselves

So essentially what i’m suggesting is that neurodivergents (and anyone else who wants to) set aside time to allow our minds to wander the same way.

Whatever has your attention at the moment, that’s what you focus on. If it’s nothing, that’s fine too. It’s really just off-leash time for the mind.

ACAB, especially that voice in your head that says You Don’t Deserve This

You deserve to devote time to *your best life* whatever that can look like today

We don’t exist to make corporations money

Every second of our life doesn’t need to be capitalized

Creativity, rest, exploration are all needs

@secondbeatsongs posted: somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days. and so l will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale. I'm not sure if it helps, but it does entertain me hidefdoritos replied: OP I hope you know that this changed my life and nearly eliminated my guilt over enjoying things. And I've delighted almost everyone I know with the phrase, leading a few of them to use it back to me. Anyway just letting you know about this little sparkle of wonder. For morale.
