I think this whole thing exposed the two biggest weakness of the left: progressives being blind to their privilege and fighting over nothing at all.

In case that's not clear (again, I'm blaming the medium): I don't hold any grudge for our spat, I'm just frustrated with the medium.

If we had been discussing in person, I would have understood your point much faster, and a civilised discussion would have ensued. Same thing with Ximena's bizzare way of bringing up an important issue.

Most of what you're complaining about applies directly to your attitude in a bluesky spat we had a few months ago, before you finally explained your point instead on relying on telling me to read what you wrote... The common denominator is the medium if communication, which is mediocre.

Maybe we should stop pointing fingers at individuals and be a little lenient? Humans, writers or not, are not meant to communicate on a platform like this one. Mistakes and miscommunications are bound to happen. Blame the medium, protect human relationships, and move on.

Given the recent action on Calgary Bluesky, I should mention that I intend to bike to this show and will be judging anyone coming in a private jet or a yacht.

Cyclists are not immune to that blindness. As a dirt cheap cyclist who has no choice to also drive half the time, I resent it sometimes. But my (biased) perception is that we are way less obnoxious than other groups, mainly because some cyclists actually are poor.

I think I understand the point you're trying to make, Ximena, but I agree with Tim that the way you approached it wasn't constructive. Progressive rich people are often very unaware of their privilege. I've encountered it with solar panel owners, electric car drivers, inner city folks...
