Having your paper retracted and taken down on a notable website for cellular division and reproductive science because of your usage of AI is so embarrassing. Yikes…

Because of that, I decided to start a Slack channel to center critical conversations around domestic ecology and conservation efforts. If you are interested in being a part of this discussion and study domestic cats yourself or are invested in this topic, let me know! 2/

After having multiple productive conversations regarding free roaming domestic cat ecology at a conference in Italy, I realized that there should probably be a larger network for us as researchers to come together to discuss these things together and potentially facilitate collaboration 1/

Oh and did you know MOUNTAIN LIONS can purr? In fact, they're the largest cats on earth capable of doing so. You can thank Tyus Williams @sciencewithtyus.bsky.social for that little fun fact. Now wait until you learn how the presence of mountain lions ripples through an ecosystem!

This led me to interrogate more deeply how domestic cats, which are inextricably tied to complex social-ecological elements, are influenced behaviorally in ways that might function beyond explicit ecological components. This is, after all, a highly popular companion animal tied to human society!

Cats are interesting though as a non-native species, in that we not only facilitate their behavior and welfare in many ways unseen in other invasive organisms, but also because they are not influenced by anthropogenic variables in the same way native wildlife is around us, which piqued my curiosity.

However, things can become complicated when you introduce anthropogenic stressors (e.g., human presence) that can disrupt the diel activity of wildlife forcing them to augment their behavior in strategic ways to avoid conflict while simultaneously increasing interspecific interactions. Yikes!

Within ecology, the realm of time is a fascinating axis where behavior can occur in discrete and novel manners. Animals will access this niche by adjusting their temporal patterns to maintain community stability, thereby reducing collisions with competitors and facilitating coexistence.

Huzzah! After a lot of work, I'm happy to share that the results of my first chapter have been published and are available for your perusal. In this paper, I was interested in understanding how characteristics of urban environments influence the diel activity of cats academic.oup.com/jue/article/...

With a dark sense of humor, it is both alarming and funny the way people continually use the foreboding future tense of entering fascism in this country when it’s literally already here people are like β€œit’s coming” or β€œI fear we are entering fascism”. I’m like NAH DUDE WAKE UP IT’S ALREADY HERE!

I think people forget that you’re allowed to have an emotional response to something that bothers you even if it’s warranted, but you’re not allowed to abuse systems of power to suppress the voices of others simply because you don’t like the things they say. That’s called fascism.

Trey Reed being found hanging on his college campus several days after an alt-right political figure was killed shouldn’t go over anyone’s head without at least a morsel of reasonable suspicion. In this current political climate? In this country? That’s not a coincidence it’s pattern recognition.

It’s happening. The takedown of Jimmy Kimmel is likely the start of a campaign to use the murder of Charlie Kirk as a pretext to use the power of the White House to wipe out Trump’s critics and his political opponents.

But we aren’t powerless. We can mobilize and organize. Now.

We’d be in a much stronger position right now if mainstream Democrats had taken a common sense stand for First Amendment principles instead of piling on undergraduate standing up for Palestine.

I find it insulting to the competence of humanity at large for any national power to claim they are great if their success was based on the backs of exploiting and destabilizing other nations around them. It’s hypocritical to an extent that should insult many, but it doesn’t sadly.

Massive late response to this, but had so much fun at the conference and sharing some of my insights from the manuscript I’m developing from my research. This is probably one of the coolest insights that I’ve gathered from my research so far. Excited to share more!

I’m continually unsurprised when straight white male politicians sit in a room and expose themselves for not having the moral foundations that they portrayed themselves to have when it comes to their political affiliation. This is so ridiculous. Why would you platform Charlie Kirk?
