The response to that is not "kente cloth isn't authentically Black!" it's just that it is SEEN as a sign of Blackness. It's simply a joke and you went to such a strange place of trying to police what is authentic.

Actually, with school bus drivers specifically, the wages aren't that bad (at least here in the DMV)-- the problem is that it's not 8 full hours of work each day (and the job kinda sucks)

Yes -- bus driver shortages are a huge problem; it's just that the story does not say that, which makes me think it's not a problem here...? If I were writing this I'd say upfront, "parents are doing this b/c there's only 5 buses for 1,000 kids and the ride home is 2 hours long" or whatever

I...cannot fathom this. I feel like something is missing, either in my brain or in this story. My child rides the school bus because I do NOT want to spend time in a line waiting to pick him up from school. This district seems to have schoolbuses. What is happening?

You are right...but I find that as I get older my goals change. When I was younger I was like "ooh I wanna see all my ab muscles" and now it's like "I don't want to throw my back out getting out of bed" 😂
