Interesting points. I don't know what power the UK has to legislate over those territories, given their degrees of independence. Bermuda, which I'm familiar with, did allow equal marriage for a while but then appealed it.

Does not, surely?

This is you, saying the EU is the world's best example of freedom and tolerance for ruling on this issue. I pointed out the US and UK already allow equal marriage across their territories (since 2015 and 2014 respectively).

It is almost 2026, and the EU still does not. So no, it isnt what you say.

That isn't what the EU have done. Those states don't have to allow equal marriage, they just have to recognise marriage certificates issued in states that do. If I'm gay in Mississippi I can get married there. If I'm gay in Italy, I can't. Huge difference.

Perhaps you could stay there? You'd clearly be happier.

Through half of EU states not allowing equal marriage?

By contrast, all 50 US states allow equal marriage.

As does the UK.

That's 17.4 million people you've labelled as 'deranged' nationalists. Do you realise how extreme you sound?

Shame his country doesn't want to pay for Europe's defence. Words are cheap though.

"Among the 32 NATO members, Portugal is one of the countries with the lowest defence spending as a share of economic output. The government estimated that it stood at 4.48 billion euros in 2024, or 1.58% of GDP."

Ok, I accept I probably should have said 'wildly irrational' and not 'deranged'.

It does seem deeply irrational.

We all have different perspectives. If I expected everyone to think like me, perhaps I'd fall out with my dearest too.

Falling out with people you care for over Brexit (or politics in general) is pretty deranged tbh.

Why does America even matter here?

The EU is surely backing Ukraine with everything it needs to win.

The EU is strong, powerful, and united. That's right, isn't it?

Results of the 2019 General Election in Wales Up to the minute results of the 2019 General Election in Wales from BBC News

14 out of 40, so 35%. Interestingly, the Tory vote share that year was almost the same as Labour's in Wales.

Accession criteria (Copenhagen criteria) - EUR-Lex

Well the Copenhagen Criteria require settled political will in favour of joining and accepting all obligations. How are the UK supposed to demonstrate that, while running scared of a referendum?
