Any roll is still bounded by what is _possible_ within the context, and it matters more that the _player_ feels rewarded, so: "You now know that of these ten initial clues, eight of them are useless and these two are the best paths to pursue." (Granting some advantage over the opposition.)

But none of what you are saying is remotely effective _messaging_ to that complacent majority (however much I might agree with it). You're just offering ammunition to the right-wing opposition - "Dr, Manhattan hates our veterans!" We're in triage mode - the priority needs to be to stop the bleeding.

Facts on the ground - that complacent majority _values_ veterans (or at least the _idea_ of such) - thus, that _messaging_ calling out his _veteran_ status is powerful. (And any potential wedge between ICE and the actual military should be emphasized and utilized as much as possible).

Sorry, but "they did a bad thing to a _disabled veteran citizen_" is exactly the messaging we _need_ to wake up the complacent majority. "Everyone deserves respect and dignity" doesn't get you there, however true it should be.

Because "disabled veteran citizen" is the sort of messaging that might actually break through to the complacent majority, whereas "farm worker" is something they can comfortably ignore.

Because the people _already_ voting democrat don't need to be convinced - they're doing their part, and more people who _didn't_ vote turning out for Stein/West doesn't affect that total, does get them to the polls, and _might_ help down-ballot.

Right, but getting them to both show up _and_ vote democrat clearly isn't working, so maybe the focus first needs to be getting them to show up at all.

And to be clear, my strategy is to get these people to _show up_ and _vote_ first (because they currently _don't_), and _then_ they might be more open to discussing how to vote strategically.

I am solidly in the "pragmatic progressive" camp and agree with you personally (and vote accordingly), but the sheer number of people who seem to think that _not_ voting will somehow "send a message" to the DNC are the issue that I think needs to be addressed first.

Not by the actual numbers (left-ish third party votes would have made _no_ difference in the 2024 election outcome even if they _all_ went to Harris) - it's the _non-voters_ who caused this. Getting those people to show up and _vote_ is the first and most important task.

There is no such thing as a "non-vote protest". You can't "send a message" by boycotting an _election_. If you want the dems (country) to move left then you need to _show up_ and _vote_ for the most-left candidate you can. Sitting home does nothing except show that you don't care enough to _matter_.

If you want the democrats to move left then you need to _show up_ and _vote_ for whoever is to the left of them. Stein and West _combined_ barely broke 1% _anywhere_. Get that number to 4% or 5% and the establishment will be _forced_ pay attention. But there is no such thing as a protest non-vote.
