Fair on levels but the 9 and 7 tilt things. 9 was a wizard, 7 and 5 were fighters, the 3s were clerics

One time we deliberately TPK'd to get rid of an annoying player who was new to the group. It worked.

In general I find TPKs are the GM's fault (as someone who normally GMs). Part of GMing is adjusting things on the fly if they get out of hand - in either direction, really.
