Posting about beer, brewing and the highs and lows of running a small business in the UK at the moment. Mostly Fyne Ales and FyneFest.

31.03.2025 17:55 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There has been a lot of communication from SIBA. Have you not seen it? A lot of work has been going on on this.
31.03.2025 16:08 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I swerved a bottle of wine yesterday because it was from the States but was wondering if I should have. Now Trump is threatening tariffs on alcohol from EU what is everyone else thinking? Support the producer or make a (tiny) statement in an escalating trade war?

16.12.2024 12:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0An excellent start to the daily QC I hope!
28.11.2024 12:12 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I can see that - and am aware that these brands aren't much available in Scotland. Still if we are to move to a market where consumers can drink what they want, rather than being forced to accept what the Big Brewers want to sell, then more hard situations may be ahead.
26.11.2024 15:08 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Always difficult for people whose jobs are involved - but I wonder how much of this beer was sold to people who wanted to drink it, rather than to bars the brewer had a contract to force them to buy it? None were brands I would chose so I don't know, but suspect mostly the latter.
26.11.2024 10:46 β π 9 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0There is a lot to agree with in this article for UK as well. Independent Breweries and big beer both try to solve the same problem - produce and sell beer people want to drink - but come at it from completely different perspectives. Indie brewers need to remember this.
