Unfinished housing sites may be taken off developers under new rules The plans form part of a drive to boost housebuilding in England to 1.5 million new homes by 2029.

I hope this plan to punish developers for failing to build out sites works. My worry is that it could result in developers bringing forward fewer and smaller schemes, only willing to commit to what they're sure they can deliver.

Two construction workers in high-visibility orange and navy uniforms with white safety helmets are on a building site. One man sits on a small Kubota excavator, while the other stands in front holding a large, fossil-like object resembling an ammonite. The setting includes earth-moving activity, stacked bricks, and temporary fencing, suggesting excavation or groundwork. In the background, a red-brick building and trees indicate the work is taking place in a landscaped urban area.

During pipe work in the courtyard on Thursday, Ian and Jason from Gipping Construction made an unexpected discovery: an ammonite tucked just 30cm below the surface!

I’ve been reading a lot of contemporary novels recently and I’m now in the mood to read something 19th century. I’ve read a fair few of the classics so I’d love to know if anyone has any lesser known favourites?
Mine would be Balzac’s Cousin Bette

Does anyone have any suggestions of a good reasonably priced restaurant for a group dinner in Koln (Cologne)? 20th or 21st century architecture or design would be a bonus

Peri-peri patron: how Nando’s amassed a huge collection of South African art Chicken chain has been buying up art since 2004, which it displays on walls of its restaurants

Nando's has a 32,000 piece collection of South African art that it displays in its restaurants around the world.

It's rare to find such a positive corporate story, but the artists I spoke to who sell work every few months to the chain said it was a big reason they could be full-time artists

I'm gripped by the ever-increasing bling in Trump’s Oval Office. What does it mean? Yes, Trump has bad taste. But also something else. Here’s an art historical view. 🧡

Brazen acquires 'moving' book by domestic-abuse campaigner David Challen Brazen has acquired The Unthinkable by David Challen, the story of how Challen campaigned to free his mother from prison.

"I’m so pleased to finally be able to share what, for most of my life, felt unspeakable. This book meant facing a past I’d left buried for years. What started as a story about freeing my mother became a mission to put into words what so many families endure, but never speak about."

I have similar memories of my interview at Cambridge. Didn’t get in, was very happy at Exeter University and I wish that younger me could have known it was all ok.

C20 has supported plans by Buckley Gray Yeoman to retrofit the postmodern Canon's House in Bristol (Arup, 1988-91).

Grade II listed in 2022 thanks to an application by the Society, the new scheme increases flexibility and environmental performance while conserving its architectural significance.
