Our circulating teaching kits are a mix of dupes, donations or reappraised objects deemed out-of-scope. Thereโ€™s a couple more still to be cataloged but hereโ€™s a few examples: tripod.swarthmore.edu/discovery/se...

Yes, and Iโ€™d like us to do it more. I think SpecColl as a field tends to be overly precious about its โ€œstuff.โ€

classes come to the library however (for the transport / quantity reasons mentioned elsewhere)

also great to have a โ€œmedium rareโ€ collection for traveling, w or wo library workers

Iโ€™m sorry but I simply must have them all.

1911 edition of Whittierโ€™s Snowbound (duh) published by the Hayes Lithographing Co. Thereโ€™s a nice full page frontispiece and itโ€™s bound in a cutie padded leather but Iโ€™m just here for the SHINY

I spend fewer than three hours a week on Whittier (desk! shift! project!) but they are sometimes the funnest hours.

Here are five different editions of Snow-Bound (all from the year 1900) simply RIPE for the right class session on publishing and audience.

If you canโ€™t handle the library at its worst* then you sure donโ€™t deserve its best**

*working in nearly windowless, hot, cramped spaces

**non-library departments booking the only decent classroom space we have

Two babiesโ€™ skulls found at Mรผtter Museum linked to Gallitzin, Pa., murder mystery from 1980 The world believed the five infants found in Stella Williamson's attic had been put to rest. Decades later, the truth is still unfolding.

Absolute horror story from beginning to end - which is evidently the only kind of story that can come from the Mutter Museum share.inquirer.com/tpXOXV

if you have a public library near you, you have access to a copy machine. if you can print legibly and learn to impose four half-sheets to print two-up double-sided, you can make a one-folio book. (or do it flat and there's a broadside.) and then you more or less own the means of production

Thousands of Philadelphia city workers are officially on strike More than 9,000 city employees are on strike after contract talks fell apart between AFSCME District Council 33 and Mayor Parkerโ€™s administration, the first major city worker strike since 1986.

Philly, our city workers need a fair contract. Do not cross the picket line. Do not take your trash to the drop off sites. Take care of one another.

Philadelphia has one of the oldest cultural institutions in the U.S. Now it could become a part of Temple. The Library Company of Philadelphia will keep its location, which is of historical significance, and its name. The intent is to keep collections where they are.

Our digital repositories team spends a great deal of their time now simply protecting our commoned public digital resources from bots. This insatiable, aimless, destructive desire to excrete novel slop is impeding our access to โ€” and even damaging โ€” our cultural heritage + vetted public knowledge.
