This is where the @nytimes.com fails its readers. Trump is not merely seeking “friendly” data. He wants someone to manipulate or misreport the data. That’s a huge deception — and shouldn’t be downplayed in a headline.

I guess you were annoyed when the city of Albany, NY recently voted to start water fluoridation. I watched the streamed video of the council sessions but didn’t see you there.

I guess you moved away from Long Island some years before the Albany decision.

Tooth decay is still prevalent, but I wouldn’t call it “epidemic” in the sense that you imply. A U.S. health report showed that in the early 1960s, the AVERAGE adult had 17.9 missing, decayed or filled teeth.

Thanks largely to fluoride, the situation today is far better for kids and adults.

Carol, there was only 1 key dynamic that differed btw Edmonton and Calgary — Edmonton continued to provide fluoridated water and Calgary did not (which caused its spike in tooth decay).
