All the UCP’s changes to municipal elections made the election worse. It was actually awful. The counting centre was chaotic despite all the best efforts of the workers. It took 4 hours to count only the mayor’s advance votes. By the same time in 2021, we knew the full council results. #yyc #yyccc

Her statement doesn’t say anything about forcing treatment or closing the SCS. It says “provide options and supports” - which is completely the opposite of forcing treatment.

The NDP will never appeal to the people who like these policies and they should quit trying. Those people will just always vote for the UCP. And the rest of us can smell cowardice from 100 km away.

Alberta government pauses ban on school library books with sexual content | CBC News The Alberta government is hitting pause on its order for the removal of books with explicit sexual content from libraries.

I suspect they discovered that many conservative voters also disagree with book bans. They also realized that school divisions were not going to interpret "sexual content" to mean only 2SLGBTQ+ content.

Notably, all the examples of "explicit sexual content" the government provided were from 2SLGBTQ+ books. This suggests that their intent was to ban this content specifically and that they expected school divisions to apply the order only to certain kinds of books.

How has the NDP not just come out and said “We’ll repeal the anti-trans bills, we won’t tell schools what books they can’t have in their libraries, and we’ll let kids figure out their path forward in whatever way they feel is safest for themselves.
