And when I’ve brought this up with my partner it’s been met with defensiveness to the point that it’s not something I feel like I can discuss anymore.

So I’m left to post a thread to bluesky on a Saturday night from behind a rude tag.

And like, it’s a really weird thing to be the dad and be identifying SO HARD with the moms I mentioned up thread.

And it’s even more so weird, bc just by saying this, I sound like the partners of those women, complaining about taking care of the kids, even though I’m the one doing more of it.

An additional reason for this is that my job is remote and my partner is in office so I have a more flexible schedule. Because of this i also take on a large part of the domestic matters in the house (meeting people for work on the house, etc)

However, my job is more lucrative, and more demanding.

And in both an effort to be a good partner AND because I love spending time with my kid, I take on well over half of all the parenting duties. I do every school drop off, most illness pick ups, doctors appts, and 2/3 of pick ups.

I see so many parenting TikTok’s and reels and whatever that are wives complaining about how the husbands never involve themselves with the kids, and they do all the emotional and literal labor involved with raising the kids, and I try to make sure that I’m never that partner and father.

I don’t have anywhere else that I can say something like this so I’m going to do it here so I can get it out of my head. And the fact that it’s now hidden behind a rude tag makes it even easier to do since no one will see it.

I hate diving back into the Tattoo thing, but to me the tell was that his IMMEDIATE instinct upon talking about the tattoo on that podcast wasn't to apologize or express regret over it, but to basically roll his eyes & sigh exasperatedly about having to explain himself to "dismiss" a "silly" issue.
