Comic books, pro rasslin, genre flicks, heavy sounds. Attempts of political doomscrolling avoidance have thus far been futile.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric

Now that this Republican government shutdown has stretched to the longest shutdown in history, I don’t want to hear any more of that “no one wants to work anymore” bullshit out of right wing voters.

He Made Me Who I Am and Then Forgot Who He Was Daddy

I am angry at the MAGA movement for being so effective in marketing hate to the exact demographic my dad represented. I am also angry at my dad for falling for it.

Generative Al is being marketed as a tool designed to reduce or eliminate the need for developed, cognitive skillsets. It uses the work of others to simulate human output, except that it lacks grasp of nuance, contains grievous errors, and ultimately serves the goal of human beings being neurologically weaker due to the promise of the machine being better equipped than the humans using it would ever exert the effort to be.

The people that use generative Al for art have no interest in being an artist; they simply want product to consume and forget about when the next piece of product goes by their eyes. The people that use generative Al to make music have no interest in being a musician; they simply want a machine to make them something to listen to until they get bored and want the machine to make some other disposable slop for them to pass the time with.

The people that use generative Al to write things for them have no interest in writing. The people that use generative Al to find factoids have no interest in actual facts. The people that use generative Al to socialize have no interest in actual socialization.

In every case, they've handed over the cognitive load of developing a necessary, creative human skillset to a machine that promises to ease the sweat equity cost of struggle. Using generative Al is like asking a machine to lift weights on your behalf and then calling yourself a bodybuilder when it's done with the reps. You build nothing in terms of muscle, you are not stronger, you are not faster, you are not in better shape.

You're just deluding yourself while experiencing a slow decline due to self-inflicted atrophy.

re: generative AI

I have finally fully and accurately explained my problem with how it’s marketed and used.

And now, you can use it, too.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

These fucking billionaires could save society if they wanted to but placating to authoritarianism services their greed, vanity, and overall disconnect from society much better.

Most rich guys going through a midlife crisis would buy a convertible but Jeff Bezos builds a gigantic rocket-fueled vibrator, names it “Root of my Sadness” & stuffs it full of women for a ride that lasted 10 minutes longer than he could in his prime. We get it. Your dick doesn’t work any more.

Is Kilmar Abrego Garcia alive? Because the amount of resistance to addressing his being trafficked gives the distinct impression that either he is dead or what they have done to him is so unspeakable that they cannot afford for him to be freed, seen, or spoken with.

Imagine the hubris that goes into saying that you are going to reset global trade and just pull the plug on the entire economy. These fools are making shit up and have no idea what they are doing or even why. But don't worry. They went long ages ago.

UCSF Loses Top Heart Surgeon Over Trump’s Hostility Toward Canada | KQED A leading heart surgeon from Canada who was set to start at UCSF this month changed his mind, citing “the evolving political climate” in the U.S.

Real consequences to Trump.

Dr. Marc Ruel, one of the world's top heart surgeons, was set to move from Ottawa to San Francisco this year.

He backed out because of the political situation here and the mistreatment of Canada by Trump through tariffs and annexation
