The games are connected in that they're all travelogues written by a particular adventurer, but you can play them in pretty much any order. The only exception is 1 and 2 which are two halves of a single story. I don't think the games are even numbered chronologically

A crow kicks a small ball of snow. They then start rolling it into a larger ball while saying "trust the process...". They kick more snow into a pile and stick a branch in repeating "trust the process" to itself. They place small stones. They say "Phew!" and stand back to look at its creation, which we see now is a mess of a project that looks somewhat like a melted bird. The final panel the crow says "haha it's terrible".

We see two house sparrows drinking out of a puddle. The male says to the female: "Good puddle!" to which she replies "I love you but you have low standards". Pigeons arrive in the background, the female says "Ope! Here comes the herd" There is a long horizontal frame of the two sparrows in the midst of a bunch of pigeons cooing around them. The male then says "gentle giants" the female agrees "mhm" and then says "coo" and the male responds "haha. coo!"

I added my old text comparison script to see how certain scripts changed across different releases of Final Fantasy IV for Super Famicom/Super NES, here we can see how a really old fan translation added in some "not homo" humor but then they removed the humor in an updated patch a year or two later

This text comparing script also lets us see how the Japanese Final Fantasy IV Easy Type version changed and evolved from the original Japanese Final Fantasy IV release - here, we see how the semi-archaic word "ashiki" ("evil, wicked") was replaced with the simpler word "aku no" ("evil, wicked") for the Easy Type release, which was aimed at younger audiences at the time

Whenever there's a text change detected, my Wanderbar (the HTML sidebar attached to the emulator) will display this little book icon, clicking it will bring up the differences window, seen in other screenshots here

Even non-dialogue text has the text comparison script thing working, so we can see how item names, enemy names, spell names, etc. have changed over time for a bunch of different releases of the game
