We couldn't vote on multiple things at our last diocesan convention because we didn't have a clergy quorum. There are a lot of retired, canonically-resident priests who either don't attend the convention or live in other dioceses.

I grew up Evangelical and a lot of the people I grew up with went to Liberty. It's a little bit of the first option, but I think it's mostly that they just don't care. Earthly power is more important to them than following a God who was weak enough to let himself be killed.

We did not. But we did have members walk out when the priest echoed Bishop Budde's words.

When all is said and done, the option for the poor means an option for the God of the Reign as proclaimed to us by Jesus. The whole Bible is marked by God's love and predilection for the weak and abused of human history. This preference manifests precisely God's gratuitous love.
