The Lib Dems have, rightly, condemned Israel's genocide in Gaza. Here we have Angus MacDonald, one of our MPs, reposting and endorsing a statement blaming innocent Palestinian civilians, including 20,000 murdered children, for what happened to them.

He needs to lose the party whip. No ifs, no buts.

You don’t actually have to both sides this. The Jewish community in the UK is not the Israeli government. You can just condemn the murder of two British Jews killed in their place of worship and you don’t have to say a single other thing.

Horrified and appalled by the attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

My thoughts are with the victims, our brave emergency services and the entire Jewish community.

The threat of analytic flexibility in using large language models to simulate human data: A call to attention Social scientists are now using large language models to create "silicon samples" - synthetic datasets intended to stand in for human respondents, aimed at revolutionising human subjects research. How...

Can large language models stand in for human participants?
Many social scientists seem to think so, and are already using "silicon samples" in research.

One problem: depending on the analytic decisions made, you can basically get these samples to show any effect you want.

Iconic scene! But it's sad that the incredible talent of Tim Curry (and countless other amazing actors) was wasted on RA3, which was easily the weakest game in the C&C franchise (and yes I am including Renegade in that list).

Mahmood vows to change modern slavery laws after bid to deport Eritrean man thwarted Appeal court rejects home secretary’s attempt to appeal against blocking of return of man to France under β€˜one in, one out’ deal

Modern slavery laws have already been weakened to the point where victims are at serious risk. Further undermining them will be absolutely catastrophic for vulnerable victims. It isn't modern slavery laws which need changing. It's Labour anti-asylum policies.

Fleetwood Mac (Rumours predominately, I heard that album so many times), Uriah Heep, Pink Floyd. My dad has great taste in music.
Also Brother Louie by Modern Talking; as a five year old I was obsessed with that song and kept asking my folks to play it when we drove anywhere.

All the other abject stupidity of Kyle's statement notwithstanding, would it surprise anyone to know that Peter Kyle has a PhD, the literal embodiment of 'exploring research and knowledge'. (And good for him, but now he's choosing to be a dick to others for wanting the same thing)

19.09.2025 14:04 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

But this from Kyle is batshit: "Too often people go to University to 'explore research and knowledge'". Yes, Peter, that's what a University is for - it's not to create businessmen, something it's not suited for.
