This will be a long thread on yesterday police massacre in Rio.

In nothern Rio de Janeiro city, there is a couple of hills called Complexo da Penha. It's Comando Vermelho("Red Command", a drug gang), or CV, territory.

CV is the greatest gang in Rio, second in the whole Brazil.

So that's an attached gas generator to charge the battery as needed, not a "gas engine" in the context of moving the vehicle. I think that's a very relevant distinction when judging people's vehicle preferences.

I have had the great privilege to vote for lesser evils b/c I've never had to be the "single-issue" in question. If that ever changes, do you think I'm voting for either of my enemies? I don't think you would actually do that either.

If you're staring at tough choices, go to findhelp.org. Type in your zip code-get connected to local food banks, free groceries, and emergency aid. It works in every city. No strings. Just help.

The comment will come after several meetings with lawyers, I suspect.

I mean, my biggest concern about that guy was his response to the scandal rather than the scandal itself. It could be worth the chance for them either way, but it's not encouraging his instinct was to pretend he didn't know and act aggrieved rather than show contrition.

Both halves of a finshed brick building kit of two bookends. It depicts a little main street composed of book-buildings.

I'm playing a bit of Absolum here and there. Incredibly fun game. I also finished the bookends kit. And I just pulled the trigger on that Digimon game, so I'll be playing that this week.

Reflecting on it, the reason I think the OceanGate situation has become such a flashpoint for anger is because it's such a perfect microcosm of the problem with everything right now. Decisions are not made based on safety, reasonable caution, or concern for human life. Every decision is instead made from a default assumption of 'what if the bad thing just DIDN'T happen?' We are given pie-in-the-sky promises and sizzle reels and an endless PR hype-cycle for every new innovation and inevitably it fails to work, harms people, and then is maybe barely apologized for before the next bad idea comes down the pike. OceanGate's underengineered, undercooked, doomed submarine isn't merely a metaphor for the hubris of the wealthy, it is a scale model of the way the wealthy dictate our reality. All consequences can be ignored, all blowback can be forestalled, let the end-user eat the cost.

I am not angry because the submarine was badly-made. I am angry because I live in a vastly larger pressure vessel being managed and maintained by the exact same people.

When you see supposed hard leftist accounts clearly trying to drive wedges and start drama, like, say, rejecting anyone who's ever served in the military or supported Sanders, block that shit immediately. That's a wrecker.

I'm seeing so many bizarre takes on whether it's okay to not want The White House to be demolished. I don't think caring about people and buildings is some kind of either/or zero-sum game. People tend to either care or not care about things in general.

How much is it worth to gamble on hugely variable levels of time and enjoyment? B/c that's how I feel when I see a new game. I'm very choosy about a $70 game, but I'll pull the lever on something unknown for less.

The book is indeed way better. It's hard to get into at first, but it's basically an existentialist horror novel and incredibly bleak.

Not at all. But it's clearly a very specific skull, so somebody sure knew. If I woke up with that, I'd be in the research library figuring it out like The Ring. I'd be very concerned about that.

So let me get this straight: the internet found out about a rejected post-Skywalker Ben Solo movie script, and they're on the side of the Ben Solo script? Like... they think this movie would be good? I would not have predicted that reaction.

What really sucks is that they knew this would happen w/o the public option and that removing it was intended to predictably undermine it.
