11 more NYC libraries will soon open on Sundays
A $2 million City Council deal will expand seven-day service to more than 30 branches citywide.
Eleven more libraries will reopen on Sundays, thanks to the leadership of the City Council. They never should've been closed in the first place.
As Mayor, I'll end this absurd budget dance that keeps our beloved libraries in limbo year after year.

Infuriating, obtuse and fundamental misrepresentation of design which at its most basic definition is the deliberate planning and shaping of materiality - systems, objects, buildings, processes, services

I supervised a great thesis on โOโConnell street as a disappointmentโ a few years ago - charted 50 years of moany Irish times letters and articles from self-loathing sthsiders who wished they lived in Copenhagen

Maybe it depends what education system students are familiar with...having seen someone through the Leaving Cert and the specificity of the marking schemes for (eg) writing, I can imagine UGs who have come through that might be socialised into thinking about writing in a certain way

I think of it as city but not town. Every year I teach a Dublin course and ask students where 'town' is and it's usually N-S Parnell square to Stephens Green, then E-W Pearse st to Christchurch or Camden St to Merrion Sq (S) or E-W Gardiner St to Church st (N) or Parnell Square to Constitution Hill

I'd call it north city or Phibsborough/drumcondra. Drumcondra is just over canal, St Ignatius rd is across the road and 'Phibsborough' but Portland Place around the corner is 'North City'

Grace is not a victim of unfortunate oversight, but a citizen whose rights were repeatedly violated
Grace is not a singular failure but a symbol of systemic neglect
Thanks to Dr Rosaleen McDonagh for writing this piece for us about the Grace scandal, our framing of disability and vulnerability, and remembering at the heart of this story is a citizen whose essential human rights have been disregarded.
