This is my SB 79 rezoning map for Berkeley based on nearest pedestrian access points, any % of a lot in range being eligible per SB 79's texts. Its going to be more like a Middle Housing bonus than even mid-rises, really.

This one highway is projected to cost 85% of what CA has spent on high-speed rail over 15 years and hundreds of miles. If we can afford this, we can afford high-speed rail.

I'm not going to claim it's well-conceived or executed, but it's likely intended to signify stone, which is a more expensive and durable material than stucco-clad wood framing. Cultural value systems for architectural expression often create conflict in multi-ethnic communities over "taste"

Reminds me how the B was crushing it and started declining in ‘16. Aside from remote work, what are the other factors keeping riders from coming back? Housing crisis/displacement? Fwy expansion? American insularity?

It goes beyond safety. I can afford a car to the airport, but unless there’s a good reason, I’m gonna spend more time & take BART or bus bc I feel it’s the right thing. For several years I walked from LAX to their bus terminal nearly a mile away. For that matter, I almost go SF/LA by Amtrak

It may not be the likeliest of routes, but it is scenic. One might take Point Lobos past Sutro Baths and the Cliff House, down to TGH and thence to Lincoln on the south side of GGP and then make your way to BVP on Haight. That portion of the Great Highway west of GG Park is not closed to cars.

Two photos. The first shows the outside of David Lynch's home. It's gray with strong geometric lines. The other photos shows what appears to be a living room with a fireplace and built-in seating.
Two photos of David Lynch's workshop. The first has windows facing the outside. The other has a bunch of woodworking and art stuff.
Two photos. Both show big open gray rooms.

A map showing part of SFO airport and Millbrae, showing a large number of overlapping green circles around the airport's people mover stations indicating that the "transit" they provide might trigger SB79 up-zoning on a few random blocks of Millbrae alongside US101
Not sure how real this is, but it is hilarious that this little corner of Millbrae might get up-zoned just for being on the opp. side of US101 from the SFO people mover

I think the concerns are in part based on experiences with a small portion of the foamer-American community along with a prejudice-based assumption of that rail-enthusiasm is indicative of specific disorders

Disappointing comments from Stern here. LinkUS will directly help Stern's district long before HSR arrives, by allowing run-through Metrolink service linking the Valley to Orange County's jobs and beaches - but apparently Stern didn't bother to learn anything about the projects he's cutting.
