I used to be such an ambitious child. As an adult I find my ambitions have mellowed into something less grand but much more profound. I want to go to the pub and restaurants with the people I love, I want to go on holiday, i want politicians strung up on lampposts, I want to read in the sun 🌞

There is a genre of internet content that is "I just learned somebody active in a scene is a horrible person but I'm not going to tell you who".

And I hate it, because the comments inevitably turn into a guessing game wishing for the downfall of people in that scene based purely on vibes.

Totally agree with that you've said. I trust the professionals who know what they're doing, but not the average person who's "rescued" a wild animal on a whim.

As you've mentioned, it's never going to come back to the irresponsible people, only the innocents around them including the animals

Even so, I think rescues shouldn't automatically become someone's house pet just because they can't be re-released. I think showing people rescues treated as pets isn't super beneficial long term, as even if it's just one, it can set a precedent for bad keeping practices to the public

That pets against trump page is such a slop account idk how people don't see its spreading harmful misinformation every other post

Good to see that bluesky still has twitters problem of slop accounts that promote misinformation and unsafe relationships with wildlife

Domestication takes thousands of years, what you're talking about is habituation. Cheetahs are beautiful but habituating wild animals is not beneficial to us or for the cheetah's survival - in the latter case it can even be detrimental if they are too used to humans

Post inspired by a comment made on my local zoo about an enclosure - which was easily disproved if you went to the zoo or even just looked at photos online.

Zoos are obviously never above criticism and the way we keep animals should be constantly improving but spreading misinformation about zoological societies and charities benefits absolutely no one
