Many city halls are deep in budget-time. Some are pushing austerity ideologies, and are ignoring the difference between costs and cost-savers/value creators. Citizens, PAY ATTENTION, and never forget that the TRUTH about a city’s REAL aspirations isn’t found in its visions. It’s found in its budget.

"Knowing you've broken the law, and planning to break more of them to ensure your friends keep you from paying the consequences" does not feel like a thing FOLKS VOTE FOR.

Just visited NYC earlier this month and the public transit is clean, reliable, and fast. I rode trains, buses, a boat, and a tram. I wish we had this level of transit service in more cities. (tap to ride OMNY is amazing, too)

And it's not like Lyon is a dense, pedestrian city. It's still full of cars. It just has a lot less traffic than Cincinnati, because it has more options.

Lyon's downtown is actually smaller, but the city proper is far more dense overall than Cincinnati's quick fade into suburban sprawl.
It's wild to understand that a transit system that size serving a SMALLER metro area can move 1.8mm journeys / day because it's designed to do so.

Lyon, France has a similar metro population to Cincinnati (~2.2mm). So here's a scale overlay of their fixed transit system over the Cincinnati region. (Subway + Tram + Funicular + connection to regional rail).

As someone who has to be creative and make stuff all of the time, I find that I'm WAY BETTER at it when I'm in the midst of a few good books.
