It was 56 years ago today Neil Armstrong first stepped on the moon — a worldwide event that millions tuned into, including me and my brother (even if I did fall asleep). It’s a big reason we became astronauts and a great example of what our country can do when we work together.

I’m cynical and suspicious of uses of fame, but as a lone witness, I can personally testify Stephen Colbert is a rare one in this world who would literally call a stranger in a hospital just to make them laugh if it helps. I hope the numbnuts who canceled his show never know such kindness.
