Part of my problem is I refuse to ignore these stories, and I won’t forget, so you just can’t sell me on “protect women and girls” as a motivation for these people. These same people want to loudly laud men who sold their children into slavery.

In any just world, the police and prosecutors' offices would’ve been razed to the ground with earth salted over, but something something “wokeness went too far” and now this trafficking victim is in prison for a decade plus.

Mind you, they had tapes of this man abusing this girl and other girls, and the police still decided not to prosecute because they claimed they couldn’t tell how old the girls were in the tapes. This should inform how much trust people put into footage for securing justice.

This is why a Black girl who’s a rape victim can be targeted for a high-profile prosecution for killing her rapist, and no one blinks an eye.

People refuse to accept the idea that the police are not particularly interested in or good at preventing sexual violence unless it’s something they can sensationalize to increase power for policing.
