Without confirming, what makes it cool for you to ask about someone I've said I don't particularly want to hear about?

Every day Mamdani comes out and is like "hey guys, I turned off the orphan-crushing machine. Literally just had to flip a switch. Took less than 5 minutes."

After decades of dem leadership pissing and moaning and fundraising about how complex an issue it is and how difficult the process is etc

They wanted to destroy society because the existence of a high functioning society threatens their ability to enslave and rape children

There was an author I had specifically muted because I really didn't want to hear what they were up to. I started hearing updates about them again; turns out I'd accidentally made that author's name a temporary mute.

Time to make that permanent.

I want to start by directly addressing the email thread I've been asked about the most: In June 2015, I sent Epstein an email with the subject line "Got a fresh shipment." The email contained a photo of bottles of Metformin, a medication I had just received from the pharmacy for my use. The subject line referred to the picture of the bottles of medication.

Ah, yes, an extremely normal thing to do to a known billionaire sex trafficker who you were not close with, sending him pictures of your diabetes medication

None of that matters, though, as apparently paying Melania to appear in said documentary is about $28 million, which meaning this movie is almost certainly a bribe to the Trump family to gain favor and its profitability does not matter.

(Rule of thumb, which has gotten more ragged as DVD and streaming started tweaking the numbers and shorter theater runs have made things more frontloaded, is that you want to make about a third of your production costs in the first weekend. Making a tenth your production costs is no bueno.)

02.02.2026 17:07 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Honestly, watching both sides try to spin the data on Melania is ridiculous.

A documentary pulling in $7 million on its first weekend is extremely, extremely good... for a documentary.

But an opening weekend of $7 million for a movie that cost $75 million? That's extremely, extremely bad.

'measles outbreak at the child prison' seems entirely avoidable, it's really the kind of thing that only happens if you do several unthinkably evil things on purpose all at once

Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis - The Answer.

It's a LOT of game mechanics that I got MORE than my fill in in the base game.

I dunno. I play story-focused games and by the time I get close enough to Platinum I'm ready to shut the door. Usually raw mechanics aren't enough to keep me going, which is why I loved Hades so much - it paced story and challenge.

Massive congrats on the Hollow Knight 100%, though, that's amazing!

Every Platinum trophy-chaser's dilemma: Should I waste hours of my life slogging through this repetitive gameplay that I've mastered, or should I just watch the end boss and cutscenes and call it a day?

I was hoping to really love the Persona 3 DLC Episode Aigis - The Answer, but unfortunately it's a millimeter-thick layer of story crushed under hours of repetitive dungeons.

Even on "story" mode it's just an incredible waste of time.

This person gave me some advice I still carry around usefully in my head to this day and I would recommend her writing mentorship services mightily.

So an odd thing here is that if you say "an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume" your point is to communicate "it is not really Batman" but the problem is that the real Batman, within the fiction of the comic book "Batman", is also, literally, an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume

The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll

It's so weird; having lived adjacent to New York during much of the Giuliana reign, the guy did lots of shady stuff but did actually do legit things like turning Times Square from a sketchy porno hub into a legitimate tourist destination.

He could have been lauded if he'd kept his mouth shut.

Starting to viscerally understand why the civil rights movement waited for someone as utterly blameless as Rosa Parks to get arrested before launching her into the headlines

Just started doing new data analysis and I know I keep saying this, but: I really, really don't think people appreciate how much this moral panic was a deliberate and extremely expensive invention.

A 55-year-old, twice divorced, unemployed loser, a drunk with several DUIs, and pulling government disability despite being an anti-handout rightwinger, with a social media profile full of far-right excrement.

This pathetic asshole is right out of central casting.

Like, I get being upset when a game is bad! I watched my share of (justified!) Dragon Age: Veilguard trashings. But it appears that Highguard is a) very mid and b) showed up in an undeserved position of grace at the end of the gaming awards.

And probably c) like, uses pronouns or something.

My videogame YouTubers were dutifully reporting that the Internet was ablaze with controversy over Highguard, by which they quietly defined the Internet as "roughly a thousand upset manbabies"

ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER was improperly described to me by every film critic and trailer, yet I don't know if I could have done better.

But it's vibrant, popping with energy about today's revolution, and it's also funny as hell and possessed of a fine emotional guidewire. I liked it a lot.
