I'll take Reagancare, or Gippercare, or Nixoncare. I'm not picky.

I've seen a software firm offer a premium solution where they test new releases of their product in a simulation of the given customer's actual environment, with integrations etc... not scalable perhaps but an intriguing concept for those who can afford the option.

Don't get me wrong, rapid tech advancement cycles are generally good. But if you bought a bunch of 386 computers in 1988 and you assumed 5+ years of depreciation... no.

The previous time would have been in the 1980s and 90s, from the 80286 through the initial Pentium series, which then slowed the curve again (in a good way) for a while.

'Big Short' investor Michael Burry accuses AI hyperscalers of artificially boosting earnings Burry alleged that "hyperscalers" are artificially boosting earnings by extending the useful life of their computer equipment.

It's been a while since we last had technology cycles overtake the usual capex assumptions, but... I hadn't considered this before and it sounds right to me. Also it's Dr. Burry/Christian Bale, so. www.cnbc.com/2025/11/11/b...

That also gives us way out of the madness on the Electoral College - go back to the Article I provision of one House rep per 30K people, and the US House would be (checks notes) 11,426 people. That... dilutes the Senate pretty nicely. Oh dang, does this make me an originalist? πŸ€”

This is your occasional friendly reminder that we are in this mess in the US, in part, because we don't have enough representation for the people. Countries who have *fewer* citizens per lower house rep than us: China, Pakistan, Russia, and Iran. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...

The math just isn't mathing, not on the circular deals or any of the rest. OpenAI is asking for government money and the datacenter real estate market is doing CDOs. It's like the dot-com bubble and the housing bubble had a baby.
