I really have nobidea idea why the clinic thinks people with fibro don’t know how to cook. I know how, im often just too sore/tired/dizzy/nauseated.

That’s often a blessing! Otherwise one could end up with a mountain of boots.

I don’t wear leather and can’t wear hard soles or the slightest hint of a heel, but I’m having boot feels. Those are so stinking cute!

In the time I’ve had fibromyalgia and long COVID, I’ve never had any offers of this help, nor have a heard of services for people in my situation. The shitty fibro clinic I got referred to wanted me to attend cooking classes though.
(Incidentally I did 2/3 of a culinary arts diploma.

I just got a lil present for myself, but you could buy one for a loved one if you want.

Yeah, but unless they are willing to throw LGBTQ+ folks and immigrants under the bus along with any care about gender equity and climate change, I’m not sure how they will give people captured by the culture wars anything to vote for.

I’m sure it will be fine, it’s not like extreme weather or industrial disasters could possibly effect the economy. /s

I’ve seen the same thing. Mediocre male grad students given cover to be predators by faculty who were completely out of their depth to deal with a student being the sex pest.

In the 26 years I lived in Quebec, all three parties that held power; liberal, CAC, and PQ all cut and froze healthcare funding. If that’s not constituents being powerless, I don’t know what is.

Having listened to rural conservative voters who would benefit from progressive policy, it seems like the only way to win them over is if the NPD jumps in on culture war populism.
I don’t know how you speak to people’s material interest when they are eyes deep in petty grievances about pronouns.

Dual practice means two-tier health: critics - Medicine Hat News zmason@medicinehatnews.com Experts say Bill 11, the Health Statutes Amendments Act, represents the foundations for the first two-tier health-care system in Canada. Although the province says it is dra...

The Alberta government is trying to downplay the dangers of Bill 11

But if we open the door to two-tier health care & the multi-trillion dollar American health care industry, it will be next to impossible to close again.

Albertans deserve public health care!

Essential thread on how provinces use federally transfered healthcare funds as general funds.

AI use ruins:
-patience being stuck by not knowing immediately
-accepting to advance we need to do uncomfortable work to add to or update how we think about things
-overcoming that friction is what sets us up to internalize it, which is necessary to ask better questions / see options / build upon it

My dear friend Gabriel Mindel Salomon, of the band D Yellow Swans, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, him and his partner Aja are true community builders, I know there is a lot of need but this guy is a real one: gofund.me/fe7fc610f

It’s so warm out but almost none of my neighbors shovel their sidewalks, I had to cut my walk short after too many close calls on ice.
I hate that Edmonton doesn’t clear sidewalks, it’s absurd that in a rich and cold province we have to cross our fingers that our neighbors are capable and willing.

If you have it, wear layers of wool. I can do semi-cold Edmonton days ( to about -8) with a wool base layer, a medium weight sweater, and a heavy weight sweater on top; no coat.

Like why is this the go-to assumption for under-researched diseases? Incidentally, I was told my ulcers were stress related and given SSRIs a good decade after research linked ulcers with h.pylori.

As someone with a fibromyalgia diagnosis, who had ulcers as a teen; I’ve heard all the psychologizing. I wonder though, if there even are diseases with clear-cut physical symptoms that can last years or even for an entire lifetime that have *ever* been proven to be entirely entirely psychological.
