Currently washing the ultrasound jelly off his stomach! Early stage heart disease, couple more tests to try and determine the cause, repeat heart scan in 6 mths to see if it's progressing or stable. Dental work next week is a go.

On a magnolia-coloured wall hangs a banner spelling out 'Happy 21 Birthday' in assorted shades of purple for the letters, a grey '2' and a turquoise '1'. The letters and numbers are made of felt by me many years ago, and this year it is hung up to celebrate my eldest child's birthday.

Holiday presents my children bought me from their recent trip to Edinburgh - on a pine table lies a purple hardback book with Celtic designs on it in shimmery silver, it is titled Scotland the Strange: weird tales from storied lands. Above it are 2 colourful postcards, one with a row of colourful tall houses each with a black cat on its roof and some bubblegum-pink trees in the foreground. It's a tuxedo cat. It's sat on my lap, rubbing against my hand. I am wearing a white vest top with pink and blue butterflies all over it. Because it is 30 sodding °C!

I try to use Hive books where possible. They often have decent discounts and you can nominate an independent bookshop to receive a percentage of your purchase value.

I know that as tzatziki, it is very refreshing. Could do with some right now in the UK!

My parents used to have a cup of coffee and a Mars Bar at 9pm most evenings, I was most impatient for a late enough bedtime so I could participate. By the time I got there, they stopped doing it 😭

Definitely. If the UK had more of a cafe culture it would benefit all sorts of people, not only teenagers (people who don't drink, for example and would prefer not to sit in a pub). I often see cafes I would like to go to after work, but they are generally closed about the same time I finish.

Grand Central know how to manage customer expectations: coming home from London and knew we had been slow leaving the city, near ish York said we would arrive c. 20 mins later than scheduled, then a few mins later passed the Tesco on the edge of York... must've done some speed!
