Yeah it was unfortunate. We wish Villegas was more willing to stand up for housing, especially when the counterarguments are so absurd.

We’d still rather see something built here instead of a slowly-rotting auto shop though, hence the petition.

There’s a proposal to turn a car shop on Chicago Avenue into 50 new apartments 🏗️🏘️ in the 36th Ward!

It will have reduced parking and will be on one of the fastest bus lines in the city, the 66. Seems like a slam dunk to us 🏀

Illinois House considering transit funding bill that could be passed this week State lawmakers are now on track to take up a transit bill to avoid a fiscal cliff that is looming next year.

Well, two can play at this game.

We’ve put together a petition of our own - one about saving lives, not empty parking spaces. If you support a safer Grand Avenue, we ask that you fill it out: tinyurl.com/grandavesupp...

Make no mistake: the “Save Grand Ave Parking” petition is not about “saving” anyone. It’s about putting cars over people.

And while their proposal is deeply unserious, it also poses a real threat to the project.

It only takes a few dozen angry voices to stall a project.

Who studied parking utilization, you might ask? Why, CDOT themselves, of course! It was part of the initial study in 2023.

This is the reason that parking east of Ashland is remaining in place.

Two #GrandAve business owners have started a campaign to “save Grand Ave’s parking” - even though parking utilization is below 50%, and parking is only planned to be removed on one side of the street.

It seems they’re trying to get signatures for a petition against upcoming safety improvements.

a map of Chicago symbolized into four areas. RS zones in Pilot Areas will allow ADUs by right when the ordinance takes effect; RT, RM, B, and C1 and C2 zones will also allow ADUs by right when the ordinance takes effect. RS zones that are not in the pilot areas will require an opt-in ordinance. Other areas, shown in gray, will not allow ADUs. A note says that these zoning districts comprise PD, PMD, M, and D zoning districts.
