A flyer we posted in mid September urging housing advocates to show up to a virtual public meeting about this development, which helped ensure that this development will proceed.
Housing moving forward! πͺ

Witness slip submission instructions
Itβs witness slip time! π¨
Transit funding bill SB2111 has been assigned to committee and we need folks to file witness slips as PROPONENT immediately!

thank you to so many who engaged in this community driven process! Our transit rich wards are some of the most diverse in Chi across race, class, LGBTQ+; Broadway land use means more opportunities for small biz & affordable housing opportunities near the red line. Now, letβs build better together!

As a result, people over allocated to the Sunbelt and ignored markets like Chicago.

Parking reform might be the rare issue that Chicagoans can agree on

I think most of it was going to be paid for by Sterling Bay and they were going to be reimbursed by the TIF district.

When we make it so that low-income immigrants, LGBTQ people and pregnant people can't afford to live where they want, think about what they end up being subject to.

Just walked out of this 2.5 hour meeting with two of my offline roommates, and theyβve totally been radicalized by the NONSENSE that happened during public comment.
Requiring neighborhood approval for housing is a nightmare. We shouldnβt expect normal people to spend their evenings this way.
Also letβs be real: the vast majority of people do not want to own a home where a community land trust owns the land. Itβs not a bad idea if executed properly but the people advocating for this need to be more realistic.

Missing middle housing in Logan Square, featuring pride flag
This afternoon, the IL Houseβs Housing Committee moved forward bills that would legalize ADUs statewide and missing middle housing statewide! ποΈ π₯³
Abundant Housing IL endorsed both of these bills, and our members sent over 1,500 letters of support to Chair Jimenez and Speaker Welch

π¨ HOUSING ALERT π¨
Today, the IL House's Housing Committee didn't give our ADU and Missing Middle bills a hearing π±
If they aren't given a hearing before Friday, these bills could be dead for the year π¨
Tell Chair Jimenez and Speaker Welch to advance these bills!

Will Loux just gave a public comment outling how the community input process for development is unfair, because people like him who want to be a good dad and spend time with his family don't have time to go to the 10+ meetings to approve one development

one thing that @abundanthousingil.bsky.social members do to support the need for more housing in Chicago and across the state is write letters to the editor, like what @danielcomeaux.bsky.social did today.
