For anyone in the UK, Vodafone broadband has completely crashed. With their customer service number no longer working, their website no longer working. Basically nothing is working.

Plenty of chat about the 2nd gen #chromecast global failure this week including advice *not* to factory-reset

I wonder why Google don't think it's worth updating their own support page?

Might have saved me a few hours (multiplied by everyone misled by these)

Underwater Cyclop, One-of-a-Kind Fantasy Art Doll. These creatures usually settle at the sea bottom finding a cave or a cavern and making it comfortable for living. Unlike their giant relatives from highlands and mountains they are quite small and prefer living in groups of 4–6 members as it is easier to defend your house from underwater predators and some aggressive merfolk kinds when you’re not alone. There is always plenty of work, so you can hardly see any of them resting in a garden with a tasty snack in hand. Some clean walls of urchins, some take care of oyster colony they breed as food, some maintain their algae gardens and some shepherd fish flocks with help of pet octopuses or sometimes even small-sized tamed sharks. These creatures adore beautiful things and home decorations. Once in a while they go for a treasure hunt searching for pretty-shaped shells, rounded stones and glass pieces, pearls, old coins, lost dragon scales - anything they can use later to add some more beauty into their life. They also collect plant stems to make soft ropes of it and weave nice net-like cloaks decorating them with their findings.

By looking at the underwater cyclop's prankish face expression, you guess the creature is on something and the idea, making its only eye shining and sparckling, probably involve you, like it or not. I've put the story I wrote about the cyclops into alt text in case you'd like to know them better❀️

Very exciting programme!

Mushrooms, monsters, magic, and space spiders (loving the panel discussion themes)

Fan meetups, author readings, and elaborate performances

got me thinking... why do we call the short articles published in SM 'posts' anyway? virtual postcards through the letterboxes of our eyes, the verb/noun is also redolent of hammering a heavy stick into the ground for the purpose of displaying signage like 'vote for X', 'buy Y', or 'this way to Z'

Antique jug in a museum display, labelled as: "Salt glazed stoneware jug, late 17th century. Made in the kilns at Frechen, Germany. Jugs like this were known as Bellarmine because their rotund shape and bearded face were meant to ridicule Cardinal Bellarmine, a major opponent of the Dutch Protestants in the 17th century"

The other interpretation signage from this Historic Scotland display in Linlithgow Palace reads: "Bellarmine English late 17th century", confusingly contradicting the claimed German origin, or perhaps referring to the location of collection.

Satirical pottery - activism through the medium of comedy stoneware (noting that the iconography bears the plausible deniability of wild man mythology)

Apparently the Cardinal depicted in leering fury as a jug was opposed to drinking alcohol

Same! I think traveling for work made me realise that the majority of food on restaurant menus is only a viable option for up to 1 day, then you get homesick for actual nutrition. You've raised an important issue! May your plates be filled with colour

I buried my laptop in a hole in the woods - and it fruited. A mole used the battery to jump start the mycelial network and its kids hotspotted the flyagarics to download acorn metal from the badgers. Each springtime I return to harvest the Doomsday Bluebells

A meal without veggies isn't really a meal. Most restaurants serve oversized snacks

Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

(Having worked in restaurants, I suspect this is a lot to do with practicalities of stocking and prepping vegetables)

Does anyone remember Loncon 3 academic presentations, from 2014? I went to one about imagined music of utopian societies, focussed on Iain M Banks Hydrogen Sonata. Looking for a list of presentations to track down the paper
