This is what facebook looks like for me now
I have a facebook account for work. It is 100% dormant, no activity, no groups, no commenting or posting.
And yet it was flooded with crime, depression, fighting, anti-social driving, anti-social behavior, football hooliganism, adult content.
Uninvited, powerful and anxiety-inducing - all day long

08.12.2025 16:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A magazine cover, with a single illustration covering the entire page, and no headlines over the top. A hand illustration -- perhaps watercolors -- shows a snowy day and an empty road heading towards the viewer. In the distance, a cozy christmas tree store surrounded by green trees, some cut and some still standing, with a cozy cabin behind. In the foreground, a jaunty woman with hat and sunglasses and scarf bicycles toward us, with a christmas tree horizontally held on the front rack of her bike and a black scotty dog running alongside. She and the shop and the cabin are all in pastels; pinks and purples and white. Her white scarf and hat match the white snow on the store and cabin. It is a cheerful, jaunty, undaunted tone, and evenly spaced big snowflakes float down over it all. At the top the magazine name, The New Yorker, the date Dec. 19, 1942, and the Price: 15 cents. At the bottom is the signature of the artist, Garrett Price https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garrett_Price
It's time once again for my annual #treebybike post. This is the 12/19/42 cover of @newyorker.com, so one full year after the attack on Pearl Harbor. This would be the first real Christmas alone, or without a family member, for millions in the US. Gas and tire rationing had begun earlier that year.๐๏ธ

That's how long I was visible, approaching the junction on a large black and yellow bike with a hi-vis helmet on and they still started to pull out when I was parallel to the side road - literally 2m from the bonnet of the car
A 1km journey to take my kid somewhere on our cargo bike and I was close passed and then almost T-boned at an incredibly slow junction.
It would honestly take me longer to set my action camera up to catch these people than the journey itself would take
Thanks Jon, have a terrible week!!!!!!!!!!!

01.12.2025 11:05 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0That's one of the key arguments for unfreezing fuel duty. That amount of money could fund free buses for the entire UK every year (or heavily subsidize a more frequent service which would be better IMO)
26.11.2025 16:28 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Anyone covering that many miles every week is doing so for business.
The use of the roads is then a business expense - how is public utility integral to your business but there is no cost to using them??
Do drivers not think that use of the roads is worth paying for?
"Well I drive 2000 miles a week, that will cost me ยฃ____!"
Yeah...that's the point
If you offered me the public transport network of Japan BUT I had to take their food and beverage packaging, I honestly would have to give it some real thought

The textbook radical anti-car cyclists our culture despises.
Anyone who claims that the solution to road safety for cyclists is simply for them to be more skilled and assertive should be required to demonstrate that they are more skilled and assertive on a bicycle than Tour de France Femmes green jersey holder Lorena Wiebes.
19.11.2025 14:30 โ ๐ 26 ๐ 8 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1I realise this sounds like I could be talking about the cyclist which I'm not.
Was there even an attempt to assign blame to the cyclist interacting with the kid when approaching the junction too? Gross
No need to be observant in an urban environment folks.
No need to read the road markings.
No need to slow down as you approach a junction.

If you are caught driving in a cycle lane it should be an immediate 30 day driving ban along with a fine depending on the severity and risk posed to others.
Bitter motorists, you canโt have it both ways with your endless whining โwhy donโt cyclists use the cycle lane?โ.

New "simpler corporate rules" will remove requirements for small businesses to submit lengthy reports to Companies House, the Treasury said. The changes will apply to over 100,000 firms such as family-run cafes.

I can just imagine the BBC drama based now - probably called "Sarnies"
When I say it "looks like shit", I'm not just talking about the aesthetics.
Putting bollards up to deter cars in a place where it is already clear that cars should not be is just adding car infrastructure to pedestrian spaces.
