Just watched Robert Jenrick's conference speech... I don't think I have ever watch such a nasty political speech. Nigel Farage* seems like a nice guy compared to Jenrick.
*full disclosure, I don't think I have ever watched an half an hour speech from Farage, just the news soundbites.

Unhinged Conservatives want to cancel human rights in the UK... Imagine we had a human rights lawyer as prime minister who would forcefully stand up for liberty and justice.

And the police officer would have to know exactly which bike got stolen and where to look for it, so not just see someone steal a bike but identify the bike in the cctv beforehand. That probably requires to review the cctv with the victim. Before you even know if the cctv is useful at all
02.10.2025 21:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
True. Helps to have studied theoretical computer science... Should have come up with that solution myself... Although that solution depends on the bike itself being in good view of the cctv.

I mean Thames Valley Police is already asking me to submit fewer evidence of instances of dangerous driving, because reviewing twenty seconds worth of action cam footage is too much work to take action against road crimes.

So could mean that a police officer basically has to watch the whole recording just to see someone in a hoodie in the end that cannot be identified. Frustrating yes, but might be true that its not a great use of police time.

Well, length of time matters because someone has to review the video up to that length. A simple motion detection that jumps to all the bits of the video where there is someone walking through probably not much help at a busy station.

Police ask for protest against Palestine Action ban to be postponed after Manchester attack | Palestine Action | The Guardian
Exclusive: Organisers say protest will go ahead as planned and it is up to Met whether or not it prioritises arrests
MPs really needs to control government, to make sure government controls the police. Police leadership really lost all perspective, as ordered by the government.

View from the front of a cargo bike riding on a new two-way protected bikeway. Ahead, three children, all wearing helmets, ride bikes β one in a yellow sweatshirt, one in black, and one in a patterned dress. A pedestrian walks on the sidewalk to the left. Apartment buildings line one side of the street, and parked cars line the other. Trees and bright morning sunlight frame the neighborhood scene.
People act like getting kids places without a car is Herculean. I biked three (one not mine) to the Kingfield Farmers Market, 95% on bikeways. No car seats, no stress, just laughs. The challenge isnβt moving kids, itβs redesigning cities to work for people instead of cars. #StreetsForPeople

The problem with taking human rights away from some humans, is not that they then could also be taken away from other humans. The foundational principle of human rights is that the value of the individual does not depend on how they fit into your wider strategy.
