I wrote about something I've been thinking about for a long time. A kind of post-ironic collapse in our politics and culture where nihilism has become the lingua franca of the internet and beyond. It links Kirk, Clavicular, Epstein, memestock/coin stuff, mass shooters. I hope you'll read it.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Done. For 26 years I hardly stayed at any hotel chain except Hilton. But that’s all over now.

We held a vigil for Renee Good and ICE victims Friday evening in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Even in the cold steady rain, more than 40 people showed up with signs and candles. It felt good to connect with others who want to take our country back from the thugs.

You never know what will click with a group and what won’t. Ours had a terrific discussion of “Iceland’s Bell,” a 1943 book by Halldor Laxness. Not a banger, but lots to talk about.

I miss the days when the names from Tolkien's world evoked what he envisioned, Middle Earth in all its wild glory. Instead, name after name now just refers to a pack of tech bro orcs and their endless profiteering.

Atlanta Trader Joe’s have them too! They are wonderful.

My best friend from high school is there - Rob Roberts, block #4736. He has been gone for 30 years now. I miss him.

Just finished rereading this for the first time in 30+ years. The book was grim enough then, but an order of magnitude more menacing now that we have such openly hostile leaders.

Solidarity food pantry is just around the corner from me and I send them money every month. For October, I also gave to Atlanta Community Food Bank and to Community Assistance Center. I sent the Good Mews cat shelter some money too. More in November and December - winter is coming!

Senator Ossoff is fantastic. He did a lot to put a stop to a big strip mine beside the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. He supports a ban on Congress members owning individual stocks. He has been outspoken in defending the CDC and other Georgians harmed by the current regime.

Goldcrest - along with the closely-related Firecrest, this is the smallest bird in the British Isles. Not easy to photograph as they are often amongst dense vegetation & move quickly.

If I never see the word "crackdown" again, it'll be fine with me. Especially since it always seems to mean "tantrum" or "hissy fit" in current usage, and to have nothing to do with the rule of law.
