She's so messed up, she'll be not among the living by the time she's 40. Sad, sad stuff.

This story is covered extensively in @bostonglobe.com but has gotten little national attention. This is grotesque--and everyone should be outraged. Speak up, people!!! #uspoli #cdnpoli

Right? That this is entirely possible suggests that the end is nigh, my friend. Move. While you can.

What the hell does it mean to be a "supporter of gun rights"? Jesus. The U.S. and its fetishistic obsession with "gun rights" is pathological--and, apparently, incurable.

No kidding. If these two weren't so serious, I'd think they were being satiric--or, for their generation, ironic.

Taking it you're not familiar the "slipper slope fallacy" or its cousin reductio ad absurdum.

Jeffries is utterly worthless. He has no concept of message, long-game, or strategy. He's a DNC-spawned foot soldier. Translation: coward.

Yes, teaching requires advanced degrees. Yes, some teachers are more skillful and educated than others, sadly. That doesn't change the fact that students much master certain skills even if they don't find it fun.

Yes, pretty much if we're talking about pedgagy. You and I both have hearts that beat every day, but that fact doesn't make either you or I cardiologists. The deprofessionalizing of teaching is the PROBLEM with public education by actors who want ignorant worker bees, not the solution.

Have also recommended far & wide. It's a big hit among our reading friends. Partner & I read it twice each. I admit I have stolen the phrase "say that again using words from England" on many occasions when faced with a babbler. Handy stuff.

🧐 Don't think I'd be enlisting the care of this "doctor" since he has such incredibly poor reasoning skills......

Life is a slog, I'm afraid. Since all writing is argument, the ability to read skillfully, identify the author's argument in both fiction & nonfiction, assess the quality of that argument, then articulate (either verbally or in writing) a response is a requirement for a sustainable society.

Exactly. Purity politics 101. It's a nation-killer.

Hand-holding works (as does annotation as a strategy). Reading instruction is deeply flawed--even "gamified." Reading wars are raging now in Mass. where I taught. Junk reading "programs" flourished--big $$ involved. Meanwhile, YA has replaced middle-school texts because kids will (sorta) read them.

Kahoot! Join a game of kahoot – answer questions in an interactive quiz, compete with others, and experience awesome learning.

If I had a dime for every time I was pressured to use Kahoot.it in my classroom for literature studies, I'd be a rich woman. So frustrating.

Retired high school (Grades 11 & 12 Hon & AP) English teacher & dept chair here. Kids cannot read dense & difficult text--at all. They lack stamina AND vigor--a toxic combo. My ideas on why this is have never been popular, but I'll say it here: YA is a scourge--high calorie/flavor; no nutrition.
