The 2025–26 school year is officially in swing at UCSB, and we're so excited to see new and familiar faces at the IHC Open House tomorrow!

We were thrilled to meet this week with dozens and dozens of incarcerated students preparing to apply for admission to UCSB’s Comparative Literature program. This BA is scheduled to launch at California State Prison Corcoran in fall 2027.

IHC Assistant Director Casey had a great time meeting new students and getting to share information about the IHC's many opportunities for graduate students at the Graduate Student Resource Fair!

Finding Fiesta partners UCSB with local teachers for new perspectives on a century-old celebration UCSB partners with community institutions to provide teachers troves of Fiesta history as K-12 students reexamine and interpret the annual celebration through fresh eyes.

This summer, junior high and high school teachers collaborated with UCSB grad students and staff from the IHC, UCSB Library, and Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation to conduct research on the history of community celebrations surrounding Fiesta and develop lesson plans for their students.

We're excited to be launching another year of Foundations and supporting students in their efforts of self-discovery!
